Hey fellas,
I've been misinformed all of these years about the legality of suppressors However, got a few questions hope ya'll can help me with the answers; 1- do I need to send in a copy of my trust w/every purchase? 2- if I make changes with my trust (adding or removing trustees, beneficiaries, etc), do I need to send a copy to BATF? 3- need advice/recommendation for suppressing a bolt action precision rifle (.300 win mag). It needs to be one that has minimal POI shift, lightweight, easy to maintain, no serious negative effects to barrel and mounts to muzzle brake because I'll be shooting unsuppressed more often...live in WA; legal to own, illegal to use...I know what the ?!?! I was thinking of the AWC Thundertrap (titanium). Is it a good choice? If not, other recommendations? Thanks ahead for all the info. 1) - Yes
2) - No. Just send a current copy with each Form X application. 3) - Pick your rifle of choice. Since you are in WA look up Tornado Technologies if the barrel does not come threaded. In general a lightweight can will cause the least POI shift. However, there are typically some tradeoffs with a lightweight can. First they are made smaller so that they are lighter. Smaller, typically equates to less sound reduction. Otherwise, they are made with thinner materials which leads to less durability. Finally they can be made with light strong materials but then they are expensive. I have a SWR suppressor for precision rifles. It is heavy but it is strong and durable. There is some POI but you can easily take notes and quickly adjust your scope between suppressed and unsuppressed. The AWC is a good suppressor. If you want to shoot unsuppressed more often than not you will want to look for a suppressor that has a simple threaded mount. All of the quick attach mounts entail the (more or less) permanent attachment of some device to the end of your barrel. The device could look a little odd when not shooting suppressed on a non-tactical rifle. With simple threads Mike at Tornado Technologies can make you a hidden thread protector that is virtually invisible when attached. |

My rifle is close to completion if not already completed. It's a dedicated tactical rifle but because I live in WA and because of me being misinformed, it will have a dual port muzzle brake rather than threads for a suppressor. I would prefer a quick detach-type of suppressor on a permanent muzzle brake...I prefer magnums with a muzzle brake. I don't mind replacing the muzzle brake with another one that is suppressor compatible. I did a quick search and neither SWR nor AWC has that kind of set-up. How are AAC and Jet products? Any experience with them? What other companies have that set-up?

Moneey, I dont have any personal experience shooting a rifle with an AWC Thundertrap on it, but I have been next to one at the range. Flat out, the quietest can I have ever heard. Like, Hollywood quiet.
