Just getting into suppressors.
Looking at the picture threads, it appears that it's been done. Just wanted to know if there are any issues to look out for. Big question for me is what to use on the AR host in order to receive the rimfire can. Please advise. Thanks. |

I have played around with 2 different setups for my ciener
14" AR with a GemTech 556 M496D. More accurate but you have to run more lube and take the suppressor off every couple hundred rounds to make sure it doesnt stick. I also run a dedicated 22lr AR with a colt bbl cut down to 5". This setup runs great with no problems at all. Groups well enough to shoot cans all day and lots of fun but you would need an SBR stamp. (bottom rifle) Either way its lots of fun and cheap to shoot. Good luck! |

as long as the threads match up, it should fit right on. I threaded my 2 suppressor on to my AR barrel without any problem. I only did it for the curiousity of seeing if it would fit.

Thanks for the replies so far.
I was trying to avoid a .223/5.56 can as the fouling from 22 ammo would be more work than it's worth for me. I was also trying to avoid a dedicated 22 upper. So the hunt still goes on for a way to use a FH that will accept a 22 can. I am pessimistic that I will find one based upon looking around. |

Just FYI, it is generally discouraged to use a .223 can on a .22LR weapon (Ciener or otherwise) due to the incredible rate of lead buildup. For that matter, i wouldn't recommend using anything but jacketed rounds to anyone shooting a suppressor, except those who have thought it through and .22LR is exactly what they want. Once you're aware and sure you want it, go for it!

So far - nada on my hunt for a FH that will accept a 22 can. I think I have to go back and forth taking the stock FH off everytime I want to shoot 22 with the Ciener conversion - crap!

so sexy it hurts |
After removing the FH every time you want to use the Ciener, you're going to really start rethinking your previous aversion to getting a dedicated 22lr upper.
It'll cost more in the short run, but it will pay for itself quickly. I run the Gemtech OutbackII on my dedicated 22lr uppers. When I don't want to use the suppressor, I screw either a fake suppressor or a 5.5" CAR flashhider on it and don't worry about proper indexing. "You have the right not to be killed..." Can you please tell us the specifics of the 22? Did the upper come as a unit, or did you build it? Which 22 adapter/mag did you use? What about the 9mm setup? |

Yep, I am running a Ciener kit in my 10.3" CMMG SBR with a Outback II suppressor attached. Is it fun? Hell yes! Is it accurate? Not bad at 50 yards (plate sized groups with open sights). Is it perfect? Nope. You have to keep it clean and very well lubed. Mine only functions 90% with hot ammo, and even then it jams sometimes. Can I live with it? Yes. I won't ever use it to defend my life, its for targets, cans and squirrels with attitudes. I highly recommend it.
Cheers! Oh, BTW - this setup is VERY quiet. Sound is less than a pellet-gun with subsonic ammo. _________________________________________ "The 2nd Amendment is the final latchkey that holds government accountable to WE THE PEOPLE.
