Having trouble finding a KCMO lawyer to help set up an NFA Trust.
Any web sites with the forms and the rules? Like: - can there be just one trustee to begin with? - can two trustees reside in different states? - what is this about "funding" a trust with a rifle. Can a coin or envelope wit a dollar do? And so on......... --------------------- Trying to be what my dogs think I am..... |

I used Quicken Willmaker. It steps you through everything with plenty of information. I thin that Quicken does an adequate job for an NFA trust and I have never had a problem with the ATF.
There can be one trustee to start and can change it when you like. All you need to do is get a new copy notarized. I cannot see why the state residency would be an issue with a trust. "Funding" means you are transferring property into the trust. This is done on a declaration page. With rifles since there is no title the only procedure is to list it on the declaration page. |

I'm not sure about your State, but there were nuances here in Utah that made it prudent for me to use an attorney.
I've also read a lot that leads me to believe the Willmaker trusts may cause people some problems in the future. I know those who have gone the Willmaker route will feel differently. Whether or not to use an attorney is a personal choice based on your risk tolerence. I understand why people might not want to spend $400-600, especially in this economy. For my purposes, I believe it was well worth the cost. |
