I want to buy a barrel for my 10/22 and have it threaded by the company I'm buying my can from. Should I buy a bull barrel, or just a regular stainless one? Also who would you suggest I purchase it from? Thanks!

The question is do you want a heavy (.920") barrel or not? Changing to a .920" barrel will probably require a new stock or alteration of the factory stock.
Green Mountain barrels are great bang for the buck. I've been shooting mine for years, and it's one helluva shooter. Tactical Solutions barrels are also good. Can't go wrong with either. It'd go more based on price in this case, if you want a heavy barrel. I'm not really sold on any type of barrel, but I'd like to avoid alterations if possible.

Who's the can from? Tactical Solutions doesn't make great cans IMHO, but makes good barrels, for example.

I vote for Tactical Solutions threaded barrel. I have one of their bull barrels and it is great!
They do have threaded barrels. Got mine here: http://www.gunkings.com |

If you get a standard barrel the front sight is often in the way of the threading and will be turned off or relocated. This can add expense to the threading.
The Green Mountain or other Stainless bull barrels are economical and relatively easy to thread. Look up Tornado Technologies as they are acknowledged by many suppressor manufacturers. Most of the tactical solutions barrels I have seen are aluminum or some other material than steel. So you will want to buy it already threaded since the threading process will cut off the anodizing and I would not want 1/2X28 threads in raw aluminum. Re anodizing it is not a possibility as it has a steel liner in the barrel and steel and anodizing are mortal enemies. Good luck. |

Right, but if the OP wants stainless or blued barrels, the anodizing would not be an issue. |

I vote for the SBX barrel ... but of course I'm biased.
See SBX link in signature below ... that's a Spectre nestled in the flash suppressor. Threaded, 12.5" bore, 16.5" barrel ... the benefits of a suppressed SBR without the need for a stamp. ______________________________________________________________________________ P229 .40/.357sig - P226 9mm./.22lr - P239 .40 DAK - http://tinyurl.com/GemTech-M-M - http://tinyurl.com/SWR-Spectre - http://tinyurl.com/RugerSBX |

Yes, but you will likely lose your front sight. |

I just had my 10/22 target model (.920) threaded by ADCO last year. It looks great and works great.
I also have an integral barrel for another 10/22. Why not just buy an integral? ___________________________________________________________ So the Libyan Fable is told That once an eagle, stricken with a dart, Said, when he saw the fashion of the shaft, "With our own feathers, not by others’ hands, Are we now smitten." -Anton Myrer, "Once an Eagle" |

Integral means that the suppressor is integral to the barrel. The barrel and suppressor are essentially 1 piece. That is a great way to go if you are looking to suppress only the rifle. |
