i read some where that in washington state I could own a supressor but its illegal to put one on a gun, is that true? I know I cant have full auto and SBR's are a no go but whats the deal with supressors?
I've heard that too. It's a stupid law. Legal to posess, but not use. I wonder if you can drive down to Oregon and be legal? Can you drive suppressors out of state?
Dont know if I can drive it to oregon and be legal. The way I look at it is, its legal to own and use unless you get caught. I just want it for my place out in the woods to shoot rabbits and coyotes with at night. My neighbor is about 60 yards from my place and they get bothered by my shooting and I understand so I try and keep it to a minimum.
I own several silencers in Washington state with one more on order. I shoot in oregon but its just a few miles down the road. Dont need a form to travel intertstate with a silencer.
If you do decide to buy a silencer and are in the King/Pierce/Snohomish county area I'd like to take this moment to get a plug in for a fantastic kitchen table C3 dealer named Chip Miller in Snohomish. Great prices and works with you.
Go trust . Most LEO's wont sign shit in Washington

A trust is a legal entity much like a corporation. Its a set of documents that when properly executed has the power of a will but bypasses a lot of the probate problems when you die. Your heirs get what you assign to them and as executor of the trust you can add property or remove property as you see fit. Trusts, like corporations, can own property and as part of the National Firearms Act can legally own silencers. They can own other NFA devices as well but since we are talking about Washington State we'll limit the discussion to silencers since thats all thats allowed in Washington. When you set up a trust to use it to accumulate silencers you can do it through an attorney or you can use a software program such as quicken willmaker which you can download or I'm sure one of your fellow Cowlitz county residents can let you have. If you use the Quicken route it asks you questions about who you are , who you want the beneficiaries of the trust be and who you want the trustee to be and what you want to assign to the trust. Then it completes the trust documents for you. You print it out, take it down to get notarized at the UPS store over on 15th in Longview or wherever you want. Most banks wont notarize trusts they did not draft so dont bother taking one there as they won't do it. Once its notarized you get copies and send in the entire trust doc set to the BATF along with a citizenship form and a filled out Form 4 to buy or Form 1 to make a silencer and your $200 tax for the stamp. You do not need fingerprints since trusts dont have fingers. Trusts dont have backgrounds so you dont need a background check. Trusts don't have a face so you don't need pictures and most importantly trusts dont have relationships with the county sheriff so you dont have to get the CLEO signoff. If you sent everything in the ATF WILL approve your trusts purchase. Then you add the device you r trust just bought to the trusts property list on schedule A and you go to your dealer to pick up your trusts property. You can possess it as trustee exactly the same as you could as an individual and unlike a corporation you do not need to renew the trust on a regular basis or file ANY documents wi the state or local authorities. Sound too good to be true. Its just too good!
BTW I'm taking the kids over shooting at the range in Rainier OR early next week in the morning. Just some 22's and a 30 cal rifle can . If you'd like to hear a few silencers in action your'e welcome to come by .
I work monday through friday. Its ok though, if you ever go out on a weekend let me know. You wouldnt happen to know the name of the place in vancouver that sells supressors would you? I am very interested. What else can guy purchase through a Trust? Hand guns and stuff like that? I just wish I could buy a SBR in our state.
I usually try and avoid ranges on the weekends. Too many people. On the weekends I'll run over to one of the Oregon side islands on the Columbia and bring a few guns and silencers with me for some target shooting while wer'e out boating. Trust will get you pretty much NFA stuff only and the only NFA you can have in WA are silencers, large bore DD's and AOW's. No SBR's , SBS's or Machineguns. The trust status doesnt affect the transfer of the weapon to you which is still done on a 4473. Roger Wilco Small Arms is the dealer in Vancouver. His phone number is 360-771-0134. Havent talked to him in a while and I see his website is "under construction" so giving him a call to see if he's still in business might be a good idea. Figure the cost at MSRP for rogerwilco. The guy up in Snohomish is at a considerable discount and worth the drive.
Do you have the snohomish guys contact info? also whats a DD and a AOW? sorry to be such a pain the the arse but this C3 stuff is all new to me, like this is the first conversation I've ever had about this stuff.
AOW's are pen guns, can guns , wallet guns, pistols with vertical foregrips and silly stuff like that. I think short barreled pistol grip shotguns without buttstocks are also AOW's which is about the only AOW I'd want. Large bore DD's ( destructive devices ) would be like a 12 gauge street sweeper or 20mm Lahti antitank guns...or a Howitzer. WA does not allow explosive DD's like hand grenades or grenade launchers or rounds for said howitzer.
I want one of those little serbu (I think that right) shot guns so bad it hurts. It would be awsome if washington state would let me own one. Thanks for all of the info, like I said im pretty new at this NFA stuff
