Problem with New SF Ryder 9-Ti
Hello,

Finally got a weekend to head out the family farmstead in Shenandoah VA this past weekend to "initiate" a recently off-the NFA waiting period suppressor. Brought along Sig E26R-9-CBT-TB, as the host. Also had three different "subsonic" rounds to try (PPU, 9mm FMJ 158gr, Fiocchi, 9mm FMJ 158gr, and Federal, 9mm FMJ 147gr).

Sadly not any of the rounds, from any of the three types cycled the slide with the suppressor. The pistol ran fine without the suppressor?

Called Sig Customer Service today, and they can't help since the suppressor was not a Sig Product. I understand, so I then called SureFire. Spoke to a "generalist" who took my contact info, and will have a "suppressor" specialist get back to me. At a minimum, I am hoping Mr. Specialist will suggest try "X" Ammo, and if that doesn't not perform, send the suppressor back for testing!

Has anyone had any "performance" issues with a 9mm Surefire can? Thanks in advance for the time and assistance.

Not to ask the obvious, but do you have a booster (AKA a Neilson device) attached to the silencer?

I have that gun but neither a Surefire or Sig suppressor as they are both rather loud. I have, however, shot all the ammunition you listed plus Hush 165 subgun ammunition in my 226 Sigs with no problems with both baffle stack and monocore suppressors. Kraken 9, Linerty Mystic X and Cosmic, Rugged 9mm and .45 Obsidians, AAC Tirant and Tirant Ms in 9 and .45, Sig is pretty Sigish about using their products on the ends of their guns and as soon as a customer wants one I will buy two and keep ine.

Hello,

Nuclear, I do have a booster (neilson device installed). Proper specs for a pistol.

George, in your experience, what suppressor is the most quiet or works best for E26R-9-CBT-TB? I also have a P320 with a TB, and a Glock 19 with a TB, and another Sig-branded drop-in TB for either another P226 or P228.

I have over a thousand rounds through my Ryder9 on multiple hosts and have never had a problem with cycling. Recently I found my point of impact was erratic. I found the booster spring had taken a set and wasn’t returning the can to zero. Surefire sent me a new one. I also super cleaned the booster splines.

Maybe your booster assembly is a bit tight? Try some grease on the oring and cycle the booster by hand a few times (pull it away from barrel).

I find the Ryder quiet enough. It has more back pressure than 1 3/8 cans. It was hard to take apart and clean the first time. If I had a new one I’d start off by taking apart and putting some high temperature grease on the bore to make baffle removal easier later. The baffles direct some gas to the outside which really locks them up.

I find accuracy - grouping with most hosts to be worse with the Surefire than with my Griffin 9mm can. YMMV.

Hello,

Mike748, Thank you for the information, and suggested application of some grease on the o-ring. I've had the suppressor apart for cleaning, but did not apply grease. I'll do that, and cycle the booster as suggested.
