I have a brand new sig 232. I would like to make this weapon suppresed. My question is really where do I start? Can you suggest a good suppresor for this weapon and a place to get a threaded barrel?

Also What legal steps do I need to take?
THanks for your help.

I looked into the same thing for a P230. The main reaction I got was that it is not a good type of weapon to suppress because of the blowback action. I have never found threaded barrels anywhere for them. Let me know if you happen to find anything.

I posted this here, and it should explain the legal process:

Theres several places that do barrel extensions. Tornado Tech can do it or Liberty Suppressors among others and both do excellent work. If anything the fixed barrel .380 is better to work with. You dont need a booster with a fixed barrel. There is a bit of bark from the breech but nothing to write home about. I use one with my 9mm mac and it suppresses just fine.

Well, if your stubborn you can do it - would it be worth it is another question - you have to balance the recoil spring rate against the blowback of the suppressor. Spend extra money for extending and threading the barrel and overall you don't get as good a suppressed weapon as if you just threaded a full size locked breach 9mm (M9 or Glock 17). That said I have a Makarov with a spare 380 barrel that already long and threaded and I just have install and get springs of various rates to see how it sounds - you might take the MAC suppressed with a grain of salt as it's like the UZI large heavy bolt not as much spring dependant as smaller handguns. You can also look at having the chamber altered to help maintain the closed breach thru annual grooving.
