Seems about on par these days, mags aren't worth what they used to be but the days of the < 3k macs are pretty well over.

I actually think it's kind of a good deal. I wouldn't jump at it personally, but only because I'm not interested in one (I've got too many other things on my wish list).

A few weeks ago, there were two dealers who had them at the columbus gun show. One was $4,150, and the other was $3,900. Both were in VERY WORN condition.

You can't tell much from these photos, but I'd guess that the quality of this is a little better than the ones I saw.

Your best bet is probably from a small class III that has had one in stock for several years and never increased his prices. (Aumiller Gun Shop near me in westerville, oh is like that, and I'm sure there are some in your state.) That's where you can find those MP5A3s in Excellent condition for $16,000...a guy at the show was trying to sell one in OK condition for $23,000.

If you're looking for one...snap it up! If you're just looking around, you might find a better deal somewhere else, but it's not guaranteed, and it might be a while before you find a better price.

Prayer of The Citadel

Give me a boy, Oh God, who is willing to learn the true value of honor, the necessity of perseverance and loyalty, and the meaningfulness of devotion to God and country. And I shall take this boy as does a blacksmith take a crude piece of metal, and place him over a forge whose liberating flame of education is fired by the bellows of strict military discipline. Into this ingot of a man I shall temper self-respect and self-discipline, fear of God and respect for mankind, appreciation of freedom and awareness of what sacrifices must be made to preserve freedom, and above all an insatiable desire for truth and honesty. And when all these things I have done, I shall brand my finished work with a ring of gold to let all of humanity know that I have given back to the world a ...Citadel Man.

Not bad and about as cheap as your gonna get into the Class 3 world.
There are TONS of accessories for Macs now, some of which make them a super SMG such as solid no wiggle stocks, slow fire kits, steel mags or steel mag feed lip inserts for the zytel mags, longer barrelled uppers, sten mag well adapters and even an insert that raises the rpm to 1800 Eek

I have two.
The price on these is around $3000.00

It's a little high.

Also, try to find one in your state, since there will be an extra tax stamp to pay for an out of state transfer.

One more thing to remember is with these macs or m11's, you can replace all the parts (except for receiver) for under $300.00

...i would pass...the price is a little high...a used mac should be around 3000 or less...the african mags "may" be worthless and not feed well...and it is a "sensitive" little subgun...they tend to jam a lot...keep in mind they origionally sold for ~$200
...after the novelty wears off you may be sorry...macs are difficult to control due to it's low weight and high rate of fire....and don't suppress well due to ejection port noise...and the parts wear very quickly due to the soft steel used in the FCG and elseware...likewise they rust easily...

...save up a little more cash and get yourself a Vector Uzi...you can find a nice one for about $6500 or so...fun to shoot...very reliable with almost any ammunition...virtually indestructable...soft recoil and very easy to control...supresses very well...and a factory subgun...not a conversion...and it will last you a lifetime...better than an IMI...honestly...

I'd agree with Ullie. I've never seen or shot a MAC that wasn't temperamental with feeding. There's a guy at my range that i've run into on three separate occasions and all three times, he's been trying to find reliable mags. I think i've personally seen him try and go through 30 different mags, and at least a third of them don't feed reliably (multiple jams per mag).

I'd save for an Uzi, but if i were patient and wanted to buy interesting accessories, i'd get the Mac.

I've had problems with some uzi magazines.
I have 2 m11's and a mini-uzi (Sold my micro).

Magazines for all these guns need to be tested and any "bad" ones either rejected, or fixed..

Right now, I have about 18 mags that work flawlessly with the 9 mm m11, and 10 that work perfectly with my m11 in .380.

The only difference between the uzi's and the mac's is the uzi mags are doublefeed, and the m11's are single. So loading the uzi mags are much easier/faster.

I also have a lage upper that I use on the 9mm m11. This makes the gun even more reliable.
There are people who have sold their uzi's once they had a lage upper for their m11's.

It is priced at roughly market value w/ the mags, if not a tad high. The listing price seems to be roughly $3-3.2K. Of course, like every deal, the final price varies. The metal mags are $30 from Recon Ord and the factory zytels run about the same. The metal mags may or may not need tweeking to run, especially if they are from CDNN. The zytel mags have run perfectly for me, but I have heard many complain about them. I never load them more than 30rd, nor to I force the rounds through the feed lips. You need to load them like a single stack 1911 mag. Also Lage has metal feed lip kits for them.

I suggest you post a WTB ad on the various NFA boards (Subguns, sturmgewehr.com, etc.). I just missed a stripped lower for $2.2K. I also saw a gun locally for $2.8K. If I didn't already have one, I would definitely taken the second. I would take the first either way. I saw these guns without being in the market for one. So there are bargains out there. My local NFA dealer has been moving a bunch of MGs below market for people who need cash flow.

I have had 2 M-11/9 and they have been extremely reliable for me. I did 1000rds through my Lage upper in a single range trip. The Lage upper lowers the fire rate to just about perfect. I can also speed it up by adding a Mac Jack in it if I want. Once you try the Lage upper, you will never tough your stock upper again.

Be advised, that you will 'need' to get a Lage upper for this gun. It runs about $750 and it is worth 50% more. It is a night and day difference between the stock gun and Lage upper. It makes it a pleasure to shoot and an excellent entry level SMG.

you can find them for ~$3k. but like anything, it will sell for whatever the market will bear. i bought mine for under $960 in 2001. Eek i should have bought three!

and folks here are correct… i wore out my FCG in abt. 5,000 rds or so. it was a cheap fix, but it can be scary when it runs away. i also have the lage SFU. frankly, i wouldn't shoot anything but this upper, anyway. it changes it into a very viable subgun + richard lage is a heck of a nice guy. i also run the sten conversion on mine [got it from craig wheatley years ago] and the mags are cheap and plentiful [though the quality is all over the map].

if you're looking for a "cheap" way in to select-fire, this is about the only way to do it and still have so many cool options + accessories. i'm glad i did this one over an UZI, though i wanted one of those, too. good hunting!

I've seen the gun alone retailing for @3500 in my area. I wouldn't think the SA mags would add much to the value of the package as in my experience feeding w/those is iffy. I bought mine for $775, and I can remember when they were $400 and dealers couldn't move them at that price.
