Not aware of any L frame target grips that were not relieved. You may want to hunt for K frame grips but finding non relieved factory targets is not gonna be cheap. I’d looo for a quality aftermarket grip but even then most of them will be relieved.

Smith & Wesson K and L frame revolvers take the same grips.

The thread linked relates to N frame stocks, but the nomenclature related to the "relief" is similar. I think the OP is looking for "football" relieved stocks, and doesn't want "speedloader" relieved stocks. If he indeed wants non-relieved, they are the earliest target stocks and never would have been installed on L frames, but did come on K frames, which as noted are the same grip frame.

Well that just confused the issue even more.

The newer style target grips are relieved for speed loaders with a large "C" shaped cut at the top of the left grip panel.

The target grips that preceded those, were relieved for the extractor with a football shaped dish cut-out at the top of the left grip panel.

And the ones that everybody thought you were looking for were the non-relieved - no cuts at all on the left grip panel - targets.

Which is it?

Adios,

Pizza Bob

PS: Whichever it is, search on eBay - probably the best source for original S&W target stock, regardless of configuration.

Because you prefaced it with "newer style". The non-football would be the oldest. Or do you want the speed loader relieved grips - the newest?

One picture etc, etc...

A, B or C?
