Black Oxide, Hard Chrome, Black Chrome, Nickel Cobalt ( mirror ) , Nickel Cobalt ( matte ) finishes from left to right.

I thought I would put some pictures together of triggers so everyone can get an idea of what the chrome differences can look like. I have several other plating options available , as well as a few new options coming soon.

As a side note most of my platings are a Electrolytic ( meaning Electric plated ) setups. I do offer a few Electroless options, which have their place in different functions.

For those interested in a little back ground info.

Hard Chrome is the industry standard for a low cost high grade abrasive resistance, corrosion resistant plating. It has one of the highest Rock Well ratings out there ( there are higher but they cost substantially more money ). With an average RC rating of 75 it is far harder then most other coatings. With a Coefficient of Friction Against Steel of .20 or less.

Other comparable platings are

Hard Chrome RC 75 Coefficient of Friction Against Steel .20 or less

Electroless Nickel RC 50 Coefficient of Friction Against Steel .45 or less

Nickel Cobalt RC 65 Coefficient of Friction Against Steel .24 or less ( and I can raise the RC level to about RC 70-75 with tempering )

Nickel-Boron Nitride RC 56 Coefficient of Friction Against Steel .05 or less

Nickel PTFE ( teflon ) RC 45 Coefficient of Friction Against Steel .10 or less

Diamond Chrome RC 85+ Coefficient of Friction Against Steel .015 or less

Black Chrome RC 30-40 range , it is more of a decorative plate then a industrial plate. While its perfectly suited for guns, it is not as hard or resistant as hard chrome.

So basically in a nutshell , for those that like information. There are some numbers for you to look at. Hard chrome is still probably one of the top platings you can use at a relatively lower cost then some of the higher end coatings ( such as diamond chrome ). It has a extremely lower coefficient of friction and it well beyond durable for industrial use ( which is far beyond what you will put your gun through ).

It was one of my sons Air Soft Guns, A higher end gas gun, all metal Glock replica. And boy does it shoot. It needs a seal now, but it was around the 350 fps mark. I know it wasnt a Tokyo Mauri, I forget what brand it is.
