I bought this pistol in July 1996. Based on the serial number (G260xxx), I believe the gun was made in 1995. It has factory installed night sights, albeit somewhat dim due to age.

I've shot maybe 3 boxes of ammo (150 rounds) through the gun. The gun is in excellent condition and has never been carried (safe queen). The pictures speak for themselves.

The pistol comes with the original SIG hardshell box, owners manual and both factory issued magazines.

$700. Prefer FTF. Will arrange shipping to your FFL if buyer pays shipping charges.

Will consider trades for the following:
Glock 21SF
Glock 30SF
1911's
SIG 225
SIG 229

If you have something outside of my list above that you're willing to trade, feel free to ask.

I am a noobie, so I am not trying to be sarcastic here. I just have some honest questions. Why is a 13 year old gun worth 700, when the same model brand new is only 800?

Is there a difference in the way they manufacture the guns? What are the advantages and disadvantages of these older model sigs that are out there? Are there any deficiencies with the way new sigs are being made?

Forget the manufacturing differences, but $100 off from a darn near new looking gun vs. a brand new one is I'd say a good deal to me.

Not sure what "overstamp" means, but looks like a nice gun. I have two of these myself.

Thanks for the feedback and interest. Good questions. SIGs hold their value incredibly well and the older ones tend to be more sought after due to some folks making the case that they were made better than the new ones. Much like anything else in life, older machinery, equipment, tools and guns tend to have been made without cutting corners and skimping on materials and production processes in an effort to cut costs while maintaining profit margins. If you think about it, for SIG to still be producing the P220 13 years later and only charging roughly $100 more, that's pretty incredible. Hence the belief and argument from those in the know that perhaps the older weapons were more well made.

I love 'em all. SIGs are SIGs and SIGs are amongst the finest weapons a man could own and stake his life on in my opinion, new or old.

As an aside, I did tote a SIG on duty for the United States Secret Service under President Bush (43). I was issued and carried the P229 chambered in .357 SIG. I shot that weapon more than I'll ever shoot another gun in my life. I resigned from the SS in 2007 and one thing I miss is my P229 (they wouldn't let me buy it despite me begging and putting forth my best negotiating...it was a sad day when I had to say goodbye). I never had one FTF or problem of any kind and I sent well over 10,000 rounds down range in a whole host of nasty scenarios.

Anyway, best of luck with your quest. Whatever you end up purchasing, I can tell you that you can't go wrong with a SIG - new or old. I'd put my life on it.

Thanks Marshall,

I actually just bought a brand new P229 9mm this week. So I am glad to hear that the Secret Service uses them (albeit in a different caliber than mine).

I have been seriously considering getting used Sig in a different caliber if I can find one for the right price.

I also wanted to make sure that the new ones were just a high quality as the old (since I just bought a new one).

It sounds like you think that they are still top of the line guns.

Thanks again.

LonghornRB, you're going to enjoy your 229. Shoot it as much as possible and take great care of that weapon. You've chosen one of the best in the business.

Considering you said you're relatively new to the hobby/sport, you may find some interest in the following video. It provides a pretty solid foundation to the fundamentals of shooting. Enjoy it, my friend.

Bye for a while, guard the fort. - My Dad

Why .308? Because people have a strange tendency to get behind things when you start shooting at them.

blindref, thanks, buddy. Love your Dad's quote by the way.

P-Two-Twenty is still available. Would really like to trade for a Glock 30SF with night sights. Anybody have one they'd be willing to part with?
