Hey everyone, I'm just wondering what your favorite places to pick up knives are?
I have a H&K Axis Snody Tanto and I love it - I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a similar Benchmade model that isn't quite as expensive. I like how you can pull the blade release and snap the blade out with a flick of your wrist... I have handled one of the smaller versions by Benchmade and you can't pop the blade out like that because it isn't heavy enough.
I would check out benchmade forums, I have actually aquired quite a few benchmade knives from this place, great group of people and good source of benchmade knowledge.. If you like the axis lock check out the model 710.. Also another good blade by benchmade is the 760 buts its a TI Frame lock still good lock up but not as solid as the axis lock IMO.
Unless I hace seen the knife in person, I would rather buy locally. We have several gun shows in Houston (the largest is going on this weekend), and there are always a lot of large knife vendors. I work the gun show, and usually the vendors will give us a little extra discount, especially for cash.
This shop is local, but they have a section of tables at our shows.
Hi Papaac - I do agree with you but there aren't any stores in the area that carry high end knives - I really like my Benchmade H&K Axis and want another - I finally found a store that sells the exact same model - 14250SBT... I couldn't find it easily at first. I'm actually thinking about picking up a couple just in case they become unavailable.
I recently found my Nirvana when it comes to knife stores in my area. In Farmington CT in the West Farms Mall. The Victorinox store there carries the full line of Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw (including ZT Knives), CRKT (not a big fan) and William Henry Knives. I went there last weekend and picked up a new Native3 and the following Thursday found a NIB Manix that is discontinued. I was in heaven. I know you can find them online in a number of places but I like to hold the knife I am considering buying before I put the cash on the counter. I only bought one knife on-line based on looks and I will never do it again.
As far as finding a less expensive Benchmade similar than the one you mentioned, unfortunately I have no ideas. I love Benchmades but all of their blades are on the more expensive end for production knives. I have a 14205 HK Axis that I got for somewhere in the $100 range. If it is just the Axis lock, check out the 14205. Its a drop/spear point version of the Tanto you already have. Also for Axis locks I would suggest the 520/522 models. I have the 520 and it is a tank. My favorite is by far the 615 Mini Rukus. It is also a beast.

I hate to say it, but try ebay. Use your head, don't buy from anyone with bad or low feedback. Picked up an Emerson CQC-7 for 120 shipped when I couldn't find one in stock anywhere else. Yes, I like the knife...
I have several that I have done business with, but most of my purchases have been from www.knifeworks.com. They are great!

The one I've used the most is yourcornerstore.com... they usually have competitive prices. If something goes wrong with your order, they are good people to work with (a little unorganized, but good still).
They do carry some Benchmades.
