Anyone own one of these? Seems like a lot of knife for the money.

Yes I have one for work. They are made for hard use and so far has been a heck of a knife-Darfur Defender. They're not the best looking knife out there-like a Mad Dog or Rader knife, but they work. I am not a knife guy but for daily use, you can't go wrong.

How is the edge retention and ease of sharpening? Would you consider the Darfur Defender to be primarily a field knife or fighting knife?

I have the Dinka. I think this is one of the finest knives I have ever carried, and it is very easy to keep an edge on it.

Very nice knife. Did you specifically request the wood handle? The website shows only black or green micarta.
