This is my "old school" KANELL series. I have made a lot of variation within this series however this knife represents the original design. I intended this knife to be a survival type knife, not to big, not to small. Hand rubbed finish CM154 SS 4 3/4" long blade with G10 scales, SS bolster and SS butt plate. Let me know what you think.

I think it's a fine example of a survival-type knife. The exposed tang at the butt is a useful feature.

Speaking for myself, I'd favor another half inch of blade, and perhaps a short lower guard. But aside from these nitpicks, a man would do well to have such a knife on his belt.

Who did the leatherwork?

That is a fantastic knife as usual, good work MRW

I have been lusting over a Thorne the first day I looked at your web site. When I finally land a job expect an order for one.

Oh and that sheath is top notch.

That handle looks familiar Wink.

In the world of highly inflated sharpened prybars, its nice to see a good knife that'll do the job that isn't knocking against your knee when you walk.

I'm on the same page as Para, if I were to order one, I'd ask for just a smidge more of a guard and a little more length to make it more suited to my tastes--but even without, in its more streamlined fashion, I'd be pleased to have that beauty with me in the woods.

Thanks Boos. yes that is the same handle material I fitted out your cold steel with. I did some research on survival knives and most "experts" pout the ideal blade length at about 4.5" to 6". This knife is 4.75 in blade length so you and Para are right it is on the shorter side. What I have found is that adding 1/2" to this knife would make a huge difference in its appearance. This is a strange thing about custom knives, small changes to the size or shape really makes big changes in appearance and perception of the knife. Strange.

i wasn't asking him to change anything on that knife. I was asking if Mike could build one with OD scales.
Oh, he did ask for opinions.
