Of course as its been said before, SigForum reminds us that we need to have a decent knife. I made my first purchase of a decent knife on the cheap end of things. I bought a Gerber Gator II today for twenty dollars. It had forty on the sign, but the guy said since it rang as twenty, he had to sell it for twenty.

Not where I bought from, but this is which one I got.

I went a little cheap on this one till I really figure out what I want...and plus my wife approved my purchase of a Mosin Nagant today haha. It's better than the crappy Outdoor Life I have...and definitely better than the little plastic folding one I found. haha All in all I had a pretty good day getting to buy some things I wanted, but of course she does have 12 coach purchases. I'm going to keep reading up on the knives here and hopefully have myself a nice one for Christmas.

Glad to have you among our ranks of knife enthusiasts. Let us know how you like it and how it holds up.

If you're really looking to learn more about knives so you can buy good quality blades, here's a few links.

 www.bladeforums.com
has been a great help to me when I need info. They recently disabled their search function, but you can use google's advanced search options to search the bladeforums website.

 www.zknives.com/knives/articles/knifesteelfaq.shtml
is my "go to" reference on knife steels.

 www.cutleryscience.com/
- Cliff Stamp's site with some good knife reviews and articles. If I'm considering a knife, I usually see if he has a review on it - very comprehensive work.

If I can ever help, drop me a PM.

I have gut deer with my Gerber for the last ten years. Enjoy the knife and the rifle.

Coach is some expensive stuff, ouch!

Bladeforums is a nice place. It's amazing how many knives you need and never knew it.

Plus with them being knife enthusiasts a lot of knives trade hands so there's a nice selection of 2nd owner / unused knives available.
