I ordered one of these since it was only $30 and is made in USA and I'm pretty impressed. It is smaller than I expected, but I like a 3" blade folder, so I'm very happy with it. I kinda wish it had a thumbstud even if just as a backup to the flipper, but no big deal. My question to fellow knife nuts is this... is there a "better" value for an AMERICAN made knife in the $30-$40 price range? I don't know why I am so particular about my knives being made in USA, but most in that price range are not so I really like that the JYD is. Please share your JYD love and input on the best USA knife under $40.

Sorry I can't answer your questions but I think the JYD is a good value and I'm planning on getting the JYD II in plain blade in the near future.

CRKT M2102G, $34 delivered from Knifeworks.com, best one handed opening knife I have ever owned.
Benchmade VEX

Try the Spyderco Native. $39.99 at some Walmarts.

Another vote for the Native, great quality at a bargain price. I'd also throw in the Benchmade Monochrome, a bulletproof knife (and my favorite to boot). But it's a red box, from China.

I just placed an order for a Junkyard Dog II; cheaperthandirt.com has it for <$55 delivered. This will be my first spring assisted opening knife. I'll probably like it too much and order more assisted openers.

XHairs, the JYD and JYD II are NOT assisted opening. They have a flipper of sorts, but no assist.

I probably misread a review. Thx. It'll be here soon.
