Over the years in my collecting of Randall Made Knives, I've had the good fortune to meet Capt. Chris Stanaback at the Tulsa Wanamacher show. If anyone is into Randall knives and a dizzying array of various firearms, the Tulsa Wanamacher is one of the largest gun shows in the US. Among the thousands of people who go there twice a year, it's always a pleasure to stop and visit with Capt. Chris. He's a down to earth guy who is always willing to give sound advice or share a story regarding all things Randall.

As one might expect, my Stanaback Special is one that I really appreciate. There are a lot of interesting features going for the Stanaback. Aside from the collector's appeal of a Dealer's Special, it's a very nicely sized knife that makes for easy handling. I've always liked the unique ox blood colored sheath and particularly the EZ-Lap diamond hone that accompanies the Stanaback in lieu of the standard stone.

A particular item to note, is how precisely the craftsmen at RMK contoured the butt plate to match the unique shape of the stag handle.

It's absolutely first rate. I consider this one to be one of the best examples of hand craftsmanship and fit & finish.

Wow!

I have two Stanaback Specials on order.

The way in which the 1/16-inch butt plate matches the contour of the end of the stag handle is pretty standard. Both of my 27s do that as does my #12-9" Bear Bowie.

That is a particularly nice piece of stag. I like the dark color. Nice knife.
