To those of you who already have great collections, this is probably a joke, but I'm just starting to work on mine...

Just ordered a Fallkniven U2 Folder from
 http://yourcornerstore.com
for around $68 - including shipping & handling. I've never used them before, but they seem to have good (or at least reasonable) prices on a lot of things... needless to say I ended up buying a few new sharpeners to try out too.

Also, I ordered a Gerber Hinderer Rescue Knife off of Amazon.com for $39 w/ free shipping (I could be wrong, but this seemed like a great price). Read some reviews on it - the blade itself isn't that amazing (440 fully serrated, with thick tip for prying), but the rest of the knife seems especially good for LEOs, paramedics, or firemen. Being a criminal justice major, I figure it should come in handy eventually.

Regarding the sharpeners, I'm getting Smith's medium arkansas stone and retractable diamond rod sharpener and Fallkniven's DC4. I recently lost the stone I was using, and all I have around right now is a really cheap, really coarse one.

Lastly, I noticed that "Yourcornerstore" has Becker listed among their knives. They don't have anything currently in stock, but the webpage said they're expecting to have some neck knives in by the end of October or so. Not sure how they're getting them or if it's just a mistake, but I figured you all might want to know about it.

Anyhow, it's on to "Christmas day" for me - can't wait till those packages come in...

re: Becker knives... Some time ago, KaBar's website had a news release that they would be making and selling Ethan Becker knives. I'd buy a Necker if and when they're available. I have a Campanion and a BK7 in my collection already.

The U2 looks nice. I think the knife guru (Mr. Lunde) has one as well.
I have a box full of crappy knives from the last 30 years, wish I had saved and bought quality in the first place.

Post Pics!

Just saw a becker necker over on bladeforums - selling for $65 shipped. Minor wear on the blade coating, but it seems good. Thought you might want to know. I'd buy it myself, except that I just bought these knives... family wouldn't be too happy. Big Grin

I'm lousy w/ pics, but I'll give it a shot when they come in.

+1 for the Falkniven U2. It’s a real nice folder that feels great in the hand, is sharp and stays sharp.

Yes Lunde recommended it and was right on the money. It’s a fantastic knife. He also recommends the Lochsa Folder so be careful cause he’s right on that one too.

My first attempt at posting pictures...

Fallkniven U2 Blade

Fallkniven U2 & Gerber Hinderer

Top to Bottom:
Gerber LMF II Infantry, Ka-Bar Mule, Gerber Hinderer, & Fallkniven U2

The U2 was incredibly sharp out of the box. It really is a great quality, small folder - very lightweight too. I tried to get a picture to illustrate how thin the blade's profile really is, but I couldn't get the digital camera to work too well for me. Maybe one of these days I'll get out my old SLR and do it the right way.

The Hinderer is a bit on the bigger side, but it's so well-designed that I feel that it's worth having available.

As for the sharpeners, the diamond rod works really well for putting a quick (but not fine) edge on anything. The DC4 takes a bit longer but puts a better edge on it... still haven't mastered the ceramic side though - can't tell if I'm making any difference with it or not. Any tips?
