My wife Leigh uses hers every day. She is so pleased with the Chef's Kit you made her.

It is funny, my wife isn't a delicate person or one who keeps things neat and orderly usually, but she has this drawer and goes to great trouble to keep these knives that you and jim have made her oiled and protected. Fortunately she sees the craftsmanship and is taking great care of them all.

Regards,

P.

that is so nice to hear. i love knowing that my knives are being put to good use. i have made several knives for my dad and he won't use any of them. i tell him over and over to put them to work. he just won't do it.

just a little update for anyone waiting on a pre-order. i got slowed down just a bit by our current situation. i am sure many of you are in the same boat. we are fine and doing well, but many of my vendors have shuttered their shops for a while. so, i have had to make other arrangements for handle materials and the like. we are back up and rolling right along now. here are a few pics of a recent chef that just went out to a great customer and a shot of a couple other blades that will be getting finished up in the next week. stay safe everybody.

How well does that finish pattern hold up to with continued use? Does it wear off? Is it user maintainable?

It definitely looks great. :-)

it is an acid etched finish, so it is actually pretty set unless you really scrub the blade with an abrasive like a brilo pad. but these are all high carbon steel blades, so the patina should actually darken and become more defined with age and use. carbon steel always develops "character" over time.

here is a quick and dirty shot of the green dyed pecan handle. it is about halfway done here. i am going to do more contouring and shaping from here, but you can get the idea. gonna be very nice looking when done.

here is a neat one. just finished it the other day. petty chef design with black barbwire micarta. it looks similar to carbon fiber when finished and polished.

Dozer, could you post a link to a gallery of your work if you have one? Your kitchen knives are gorgeous.

thanks, man. i have a little gallery/website attached to my IG and Facebook. nobody ever goes to my website, so i just made it a gallery. but, most all my new work gets posted here or those spots. that is where everyone goes, so i just focus on IG and the like. forums seem to the other spot for knife guys. new media is a strange thing to navigate some times. we seem to be doing well, though. back in the day, you paid giant prices to advertise in knife mags that nobody bought. just brutal. internet made everything possible.

this is a WIP shot of the newest model. a bowie shaped chef design that is about to get heat treated. i did the rough grind this morning. it is my idea of a modern, custom version of the Old Hickory butcher knives we all know and love.

here is a nice customer pic of our petty chef in the kitchen. he said it was his new go to knife and loved the balance. i love getting that kind of feedback. this one has black barbwire micarta scales that look like carbon fiber when finished and polished.

here is our newest chef knife. a bowie inspired blade similar to the old butcher knives we all know and love. i think i might use some nice purple heart wood on this one.
