neither google, forum search, repeated emails to my lawyer (the prick), nor a call to benchmade could answer me with authority. are the axis locks by benchmade legal in NYC?
i suspect not, because of the "gravity" knife exclusion in the statute, but some of those knives are really nice. anyone have any thoughts? |

Probably not, but I did carry a BM 732 through the city recently and I didn't get thrown in jail.

The Axis Lock has nothing to do with how the knife opens, It only has a small amount of spring action when you close it. I would just snug the pivot screw a little so it can't swing freely.

The last time I was in NYC I dont recall any checkpoints by NYPD checking to make sure every citizen was completly squared away. Would there be a reason NYPD would get involved into your personal affairs? If you have to ponder the issue I would imagine you are probably gonna be ok
