My daughter got her first passport this year. They had an issue with the photo that was submitted, but even with that issue I think it was less than 8 weeks total. | |||

I got mine in less than three weeks without expedited service. Did it in January 2017. New application, not a renewal. ------ Weird is a side effect of awesome. | |||

My son just got his and he got it in 2.5 weeks. My wife got hers, expedited for a booked trip, and got it in 10 days. | |||

I am in the renewal process right now. I spoke to someone at the Dept of State today. She was very kind and helpful. 6-8 weeks is what I was told to expect. ____________________________ Yes, Para does appreciate humor. | |||

Oh no. I had to renew mine in January for a February trip. It's a $60 expedite fee, and a $20 expedited mailing fee, and they also wanted a doc review fee ($25 I think). Just renewed mine in March. Got mine back in 3-4 weeks. I wouldn't take any chances though. I hear horror stories... | |||

Good news for me. Turns out a passport is not required to paddle in to Canadian waters (Quetico Wilderness). I still plan on getting it but there is no longer a rush. I am not BIPOLAR. I don't even like bears. | |||

No but thanks for that. I was referring to this. http://www.anderson-outfitters.../bwcaw-entry-points/ I've used these guys once before. They provide a jet boat shuttle to get you a start on a deeper edge of the park. There is one stop to check in with the Canadian park service, declare booze, check ID etc. This outfitter deals with them every day so this should be golden. I am not BIPOLAR. The biggest factors are: how close you are to a Passport Issuance/Renewal center, and how busy they are. My wife is Canadian, and wanted to take our 22 month old daughter to her parent's house, this was April 2016. We went to the local Post Office on a Saturday, got the pics taken there and did the paperwork. I had forgotten my birth certificate (I was doing a renewal) so I had to go back on Monday. We had my daughter's on Tuesday, and mine came that Thursday. Portsmouth, NH is the local center, and the PO we used is a 40 min drive away. Basically, it can be super fast, or 6 weeks. All the luck of the draw. Have fun on your trip. | |||
