IOS 11.2.5 is the newest update and is pretty cool. She will read you the latest news updates from CNN, Fox, NPR, or Washington Post. (I have mine set on Fox).

Just say "hey Siri, read the news" and it does. I think it pulls from the news sites hourly podcasts, I've been playing with it a bit and really like it.

As an aside, I said, "Hey Siri, Sports Report". And she read me the latest ESPN sports headlines!

Very cool IOS update this is!

I have the 7+ and that IOS. When I tell Siri to read the news, it just pulls up articles from my news app but doesn't read anything.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I have Android 8.1.0 current of Feb 5 2018 security patch level. The response to "hey Siri read me the news" is "here are some matching news articles" and some list of news in the Google app. So totally disappointed.

Siri cracked me up.

I have a good friend, dating back to our days in the Navy's Guided Missile school, more than 60 years ago. Although he was a missile systems guy, he is a few decades behind with respect to current technology.

I was showing him my iPhone. I said, "Hey Siri, <friend's_name> wants to get laid."

I was floored when Siri responded with contact information for several local "escort services."

It will not work if you are in Low Power Mode.

I just checked and it's not in Low power mode. Never had it on low power mode ever.

iOS 11.2.5 on iPhone X:

“Hey Siri, read me the news.”
Siri says, “Here’s some news.” Then she produces a list of news articles.

“Hey Siri, tell me the news.”
She opens an NPR podcast.

“Hey Siri, what are you doing tomorrow night?”
“I’m brushing up on Apple Music playlists…”

FWIW I had to install the latest version of the podcast app for it to switch to Fox. Same iOS and phone above.
