I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by the NBA reaction to China. The NBA is all about making money and nothing else. If you don't understand this, you have not been paying attention.

This guy is a creep and an asshole. I'm SO GLAD Trump called him a "scared little boy" because that is exactly what he is:

‘Pathetic’: Steve Kerr deflects questions about human rights in China by reminding reporters there are ‘people owning AR-15s and mowing each other down’ in the U.S.

He's perfectly fine providing social commentary on domestic issues and taking pointed shots at political/government figures however, when it comes to overseas issues concerning his industry, he falls back on a pathetic equivocation.

Just shut-up and coach Steve, get ready for the Support HK signs at games this season, there's a whole lot of Cantonese living in the Bay Area.

Yeah he's all mouth until he has the opportunity say something meaningful, but could impact his paycheck... That is the definition of cowardice, and his players should take it to heart that they are being coached by a spineless douchebag.

The NBA has no problem with China, but this NBA team has a problem with one of their sponsors dealing with Israel. Or specifically, one of the socialist orgs that forced this team into bending over.

quote:
After a series of protests led by several radical anti-Israel organizations, the Portland Trail Blazers recently announced the termination of their relationship with an Oregon-based rifle scope manufacturer who supplies rifle optics to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

Trail Blazers President and CEO Chris McGowan announced that the team’s sponsorship contract with Leupold & Stevens , a deal that expired after after the 2018-2019, would not be renewed.

“Leupold is no longer a partner of the organization,” McGowan said. “I thank them for many years of supporting our organization. They were a great partner when they were a sponsor. But, for various reasons…they’ve decided to go in a different direction, so they’re no longer a partner of our team .”

And Leupold did not "decide to go in a different direction", the little pussy team did.

Bigger question...why would an optics brand, closely aligned with firearms, provide sponsorship to an NBA team?
Who in marketing and the C-suites thought this was a good use of marketing funds?
Where's the alignment of professional basketball and an optics manufacturer?

My assumption is that since Leupold is headquartered in Oregon, and apparently has been a longtime sponsor, even back in the days when a team like the Trailblazers represented a small market, local sponsors were fewer in those days than today. I'll betcha the team had no problem with Leopold three years ago, but now they "woke" up and realized their sins since Trump came into office Roll Eyes

It is all about the money. Oddly enough, in my recent corporate experience several companies are re-shoring and some adopting an ABC policy (anywhere but China).

My lord. Who gives a F about the NBA. I enjoy college ball, but I never watch NBA any more. Why is this China issue a "thing?. I watched the NBA in the 70s, 80, and 90s. No more. The game has changed to a marketing fiasco. It is all about branding and selling. I am done with it. And as for China?? You got to be kidding. F them. We must quit bowing to China just because they have money. Seriously. F them. They are using the power of money to take advantage of us. Read The Good Earth by Pearl Buck, and understand how the Chinese use money and debt to control you. Read it. This is how China is taking over the world, one loan at a time.

Do you know how many third world countries are in serious debt to China? Especially countries with valuable natural resources and strategic ports? Look in to this. It is vitally important. The US is being out-foxed. China is by far our most dangerous enemy. Steve Bannon had this right from day one.

Maybe the NBA Commissioner should run for President. Spurs coach Popovich sure loves his principles. Standing up for “what is right”. Are you kidding me? Sad.

From ESPN:

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich on Sunday responded to criticism from Donald Trump, praising NBA commissioner Adam Silver's handling of the ongoing China issue as compared to the president's relationship to a number of foreign leaders.

"[Silver] stood by our nation and its principles. That's pretty huge in these days," Popovich told reporters before the Spurs' preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans. "Sometimes, it's kind of Orwellian. You think we're living in a place where, 'Is this really happening?' But that comparison was pretty stark when you put our president up against those leaders when he's with them or talking to him and how he reacts compared to the way Adam Silver reacted. I was proud of him. It was great."

Once again, those lefties in the public spot-light just can't help themselves with their off-base equivocations. Everything leds back to POTUS and conservatives and values and how they're NOT like us and how bad things are in the US. Roll Eyes Truly a sickness

Actually I've been in various places in China with somewhat communal bathrooms. Airports and such have completely separate ones, many others have separate areas for the toilets/urinals, and a common sink area. And some places I've been have a large room with "closet" stalls with full doors marked as either male or female - not due to gender but to indicate if it's equipped for standing or squatting (traditional asian style, in-floor bowl). So everyone uses the same room, and just picks the "closet" they need. Sinks are in the middle and communal.

Then there are the bathrooms attended by old ladies just outside the door in the sink area, ready to hand you a paper towel, or other "help".

Do the answer is, Chinese done't appear to be nearly as hung up as the US about gender and bathrooms. That said, transgenderism itself is not recognized by the government and it is most likely dealt with in a quick and permanent manner.
