C'mon BK, stick to the classics that made you famous. Didn't you learn anything after you tried selling those disgusting hot dogs a few years back? Roll Eyes

How about just making a premium Whopper?

Burger King is rolling out $1 tacos across America

Some of their competition burger chains such as Carl's Jr, Jack in the Box, etc. sell tacos. I don't think many of those chains are in PA and like you I wasn't aware of it when I lived in the North. Then I moved to Texas and SoCal.

In SoCal, Carl's Jr is paired with Green Burrito so half their menu is fast food "Mexican."

In Texas, my boss used to make me stop at Jack in the Box on road trips so he could get tacos and egg rolls (yep, they even sell egg rolls).

There's nothing BK could put on their menu that would ever tempt me to cross their doorstep again.

Our Jack in the Box went out of business a few years back. I miss those egg rolls. They were better than many of the actual Chinese restaurants around here.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

BK has moved pretty far down on my list of fast food places. A number of years ago they had a cheeseburger that had like 5 different kinds of cheese on it, that I went back for more than once. But it was one of those temporary things and when they cut it off I quit going there. If I want tacos I'll go to a taco place.

Like tatortodd said, Carl's Jr and Green Burrito are paired up here too, but I go there to get a western bacon cheeseburger, not a burrito. Carl's and Chick-fil-A are my usual go-to fast food joints.

I'm surprised they're selling anything. I swung through the drive through at a local BK at around 7pm about a month ago, and only two employees (as best I can tell were working. They refused to answer the drive through board, so when I drove to the window to find out what was going on, they stood inside (didn't open the window) and stated they "weren't takin' no oders". No mention why, just a complete refusal of service. Personally, they could give away gold bars and I wouldn't go back. Drove a bit further to the local Chik-Fil-A and had no issues whatsoever.

The shells are used to make tacos.

The new restaurant needs a new name, one reflecting the grandeur of the menu and ambiance of the facility.

Burger Bell
King Taco
Tacburbelkin
Acogerelling
Butakibe
Ocat Gnik

This +100. Some of my worst fast food experiences have been at a Burger King. I seriously wonder how the chain has stayed in business this long. If

If it wasn't for the occasional desire for a Sausage and Cheese Criossan'wich, I'd write them off completely.

I saw the BK Taco commercial last night. My wife and I looked at each other and just rolled our eyes.

i can handle a Whopper once in a while and the wife will eat a chicken or fish sandwich. We tried the meatless Whopper a couple of weeks ago. It was disappointing after all the advertising hype. Edible but nothing like the meat version. Some of the commercials suggested people couldn't tell it from the original Whopper. Unbelievable! Their chocolate shakes are still ok.

Can you imagine the amount of breakage these rocket surgeons have on hard shell tacos? BK employees can fuck up a bun so I'm really surprised they didn't go with soft shell tacos.

"Service" you describe is what happens when a franchise business model doesn't vet its franchisees like Chick-fil-a (rigid application process with background checks, formal and lengthy training, limited to # of franchises can own as well as other businesses). BK sells individual location franchises not a territory so you could've went down the street and had a much different experience.

I actually liked the hot dogs. It was something different that you don't typically find at most restaurants, and definitely a step up from most gas station roller dogs.

BK sold tacos in the late 90's here in Indianapolis. I think it was a test marketing gig.

I stopped at a BK west of Orlando on the north side of I-4 last year. There were 10 employees and 4 customers in line. I kid you not, it took 17 minutes to get to the point where we placed our order and another 18 minutes to get our food.

They have sold Tacos in the Chicago area for years.
2 Tacos for about $1.50, used to be 2 for $1.00.

I like them, so bad they are actually good.

Long John Silver's has had fish tacos for quite a while. Buck a piece, on Taco Tuesday. I stop in and pick some up on the way home every now and then.
