Sounds like we have a specific sub-culture issue to me... anyone else?

Coming from someone that's at ground zero of a lot of the shootings & homicides, the article is pretty much spot on.

However, everyone else is going to cry that it's racist, the people that compiled the data are racist, the author is racist, and we're racists for reading it.

The overwhelming majority of this 'gun violence' can be isolated to one particular race in several urban locations around the country. But as noted above it would be completely racist to recognize the 'real' problem, so liberals seek to continue to try and force people's heads into the sand by demonizing anyone who won't go along with their insanity.

maybe we can go back exactly one year ago, and they can again try to predict the winner of the 2016 POTUS election.

The variable that has greatest correlation to the murder rate on a state by state basis (that I've found), is the percentage of the population that's black.

Correlations:
Murder Rate v. % Black: 0.84

Murder Rate v. % Hispanic: 0.06

Murder Rate v. % White: -0.48

Note: Correlations range in absolute values between zero and one. Zero means there’s no correlation between the variables (in this case, percent of racial population and the murder rate in each state), and one means there’s a perfect correlation between the variables. A positive correlation means that the dependent variable (Murder Rate) increases with the independent variable (percent of racial population). A negative correlation means the dependent variable decreases with the independent variable. A correlation above 0.50 is considered significant. The correlation between blacks and the murder rate is surprisingly high for a sociological phenomenon.

An Interesting Fact: If the murder rate for blacks was equal to the murder rate for whites (in the U.S.), then the country as a whole would have a murder rate close to or equal to the rate for most European countries, which is around 1.1 murders/100K population.

We don’t really have a single America with a moderately high rate of gun deaths. Instead, we have two Americas, one of which has very high rates of gun ownership but very low murder rates, very comparable to the rest of the First World democracies such as those in western & northern Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, South Korea.

The other America has much lower rates of gun ownership but much, much higher murder rates, akin to violent third world countries.

I bet if you removed the 'most violent' 15 zip codes from the equation (any guesses as to where they might be??) gun crime in the US would be a very small number.
