These gang funerals have been getting out of hand too. I wish it was as simple as the "let them kill each other" solution. But it's not... The cemetery's aren't in the middle of the "hood", they are in the suburbs, and there's a lot of decent people that live between "the hood" and that hole in the ground.

Hell, I have 3 of those problematic cemetery's by my house. I live in a neighborhood full of cops, firefighters and other assorted city workers. We've yelled and complained about it multiple times. There's police "escorts" (usually by Gang Teams) for the processions, and occasionally lead to arrests. But that "certain segment" of society still kinda refuses to act like civilized humans in a society....

The problem is not as simple as letting the gang bangers shoot at each other at the funeral, its about the danger they place all the people in that they encounter to and from the cemetery.
I have witnessed this a couple times driving to work. The funeral procession drives into oncoming traffic, the people in the funeral procession are hanging out of there cars,when they encounter other drivers that get caught up in this mayhem they swarm them and throw drinks and anything else they have around at those cars while verbally assaulting and terrorizing them.
I can easily see were shooting could take place.
This happens with black and Hispanic gangs.

I wish it was so simple as to let them shoot each other.

It would be a waste of everyone's time. The "mourners" would all be back out on the street within 24 hours.
Sure, you might confiscate firearms because almost certainly none of the "mourners" have legal guns, but they would all be rearmed within a few hours. The LEOs involved would all spend many hours on paperwork only to see the bangers skate.

Frustrating isn't it!

Some (many?) Chicago politicians get upset with the police with they do their job. You know, like arresting dangerous bad guys. Most of those bad guys are black, and don't you know it's RACIST to put them in jail.

However... the problem lies between the funeral home and the cemetery in these cases. A gangbanger gets waked at a funeral home in the ghetto, and buried at a cemetery on the outskirts of the City. In between, the prosession of animals drive through and act like assholes in the nicer neighborhoods. (Such as mine. Neighborhoods that a little over a year ago had a whole lot of MAGA signs on the front lawn, blue collar, working class people.)

That's MY NEIGHBORHOOD! Where I live, raise my kids, where I was raised, and my mother still lives. You think I want these fucking savages roaming there? But here, in the rest of the City, I'm the bad-guy and/or a racist when I point out that they are fucking savages. Read Para's post, it's 110% true. There's not a whole lot of people that want to address the REAL PROBLEM. They need to blame things like guns, no jobs, everybody is racist... instead of blaming the segment of society that is the CAUSE of this problem.

I'd wear the disdain that the author has for Mt. Greenwood as a badge of honor. The rest of normal thinking Chicago (not the near north side or Lincoln Park area) is proud of Mt. Greenwood for the way they have handled things that have occured there recently.
