I am tired of wearing heavy shorts or pants with a belt.
Made in the US is a huge plus.
Looking for comfy stretch shorts that have at least one zippered pocket big enough for a phone, car key, ID, and credit card. 2 normal side pockets and a rear is fine but No big old nasty cargo side pockets. A slit style pocket on the side for a phone is fine.
I have some Fabletics shorts that are pretty good but I am right between their XL and XXL. I have pretty muscular legs so the XL fits the waist with enough room for my 43 in a belly band/smart carry but the legs are a bit too tight for the likes of me.
The XXL fit the legs nicely but are way too big in the waist and fall way down. They don’t have drawstrings.

Are you a Costco member? I've seen shorts like what you describe there.

Yup. Have not been in a few months though.
Do you recall if they were Kirkland or another brand?

If you have an Academy Sports near you, I love these. They wear better than the big name brands and cost half as much. I have half a drawer full of different colors and wear a pair almost every day.

They don’t appear to have pockets.

Rogue has a set that looks like they may work. But they rank right up their with Kuiu and make me feel fat. I’ll need a XXL in their sizing structure.

They have a set made in the US for $75

Are you looking for athletic/workout type shorts or golf shorts or hiking shorts?

The ones I've seen at Costco were Eddie Bauer or Kirkland, but it sounds as if you're looking for shorts w/ elastic band & drawstring and no belt loops.

Eddie Bauer at Costco have 2 side zippered pockets and 1 non-zippered back pocket. Outside draw string. Purchased last week in 2XL for my 48" waist.

Eddie Bauer at Costco are on sale right now, a package of two pair, $18.99 -- less than ten bucks ea.

I don't know why the URL tags aren't working for me, so you'll just have to copy & past the web links.
