Another new poll - and same ol thing.....

" The 2020 U.S. presidential election may be 18 months away, but the capitalism vs. socialism.
Debate has been at the forefront amongst the younger generation and Democratic presidential candidates.

According to a Gallup report, 57 percent of Democrats and 51 percent of young people have a positive view of socialism . ."

Our children (well, other people's--I don't have any) are not being taught History or Civics any more. They get Social Studies, and maybe a little about what has happened recently in the news. If it happened more than a few months ago, it's gone for good.

I recall growing up they were the enemy and we watched their system collapse.

Dennis Miller says socialism is like a nude beach. It sounds great on paper but once you get there you see a whole lot of shit you wished you'd never seen before. These polls demonstrate that 100 years of pounding by the left including the press and academia is slowly pushing the body politic to the left in this country. They are winning very slowly.

Weird, my son (28 years old) used to be liberal when he was in high school. Now that he has paid off his student loans, bought a house, purchased a few guns, and has a good paying job he is very conservative. Something happens when you start paying for and owning your own stuff. He still thinks he knows everything

I think young people are misinformed about capitalism.

I am reaping the benefits of socialism right now: Social Security takes from you working stiffs and gives it to me (I have already collected all $$ that I paid into SS).

that is the interesting irony.... I notice that the folks on the internet who are so against the idea of socialism don't have a problem with most of the ones already in effect here... such as public schools, public libraries... medicare and medicaid I'll even insult some veterans here.... work a few years for the government and then expect it to give you all kinds of benefits for life.....

Go ahead and step on my toes... I'm not a socialist... have worked for myself all my life and not gotten a thing from the government.

Well, of course that is not true... I've had a good free and safe life in a wonderful country that was made so by the scarifies of a lot of good men and women over the years.... and I will never be able to pay that back.

I think most people are for the Socialist programs we have now because there is no established alternative to them at the moment. I am against ANY program that takes from one citizen and gives to another absent an equitable and voluntary transfer of value.

These days it seems they need to simplify the definitions of communism and socialism vs capitalism to really impress upon people with clarity. I volunteer this....

Communism is where the government is standing with both boots on your neck. Period.

Socialism is where the government has one boot on your neck and is sitting on your chest while explaining to you how much better off you are that they don't have both boots on your neck and that you're getting some "free stuff" that isn't actually free or equal.

Capitalism is where you equally have the freedom to work hard/smart, have the ability to buy your own boots to keep the government in check, and succeed or fail at your discretion.

Unfortunately, this has been slowly implemented over the last 30 years, or so. The enemy captured our education system and has used it to form/brainwash our children into believing that bernie sanders, et al, bullshit.

They hear all that "free shit" nonsense and immediately jump on that band wagon. Sadly.

Is it too late? Unless the "conservatives" can recapture and restore the national education systems, yes it is too late.

The progressive democrats sugar coat socialism and try and make everyone believe it can be paid by taxpayers other than them - the wealthy and big businesses. The reality is in European and other countries that practice "socialism" and have "free" low quality healthcare and such the taxes paid by the middle class is much higher than what we experience including costs of products because VAT. I wonder what these polls would show if they were truthful and explained that your taxes paid are going to go up dramatically to pay for all the "free" stuff.

Socialism isn't acceptable, in any form.

That includes roads.

Look, the youth of today are moronically stupid and uneducated across the board. This makes them all but unemployable meaning they need another source of funding to pay their bills. Enter socialism and big government. When you're both ignorant and selfish, socialism sounds like a great deal...until it doesn't.
