Drove past Crysler Stadium in Independence, Missouri and remembered how I revered that baseball stadium. If my high school team had some success in early rounds of playoffs, they might have played there. I only played JV baseball, so it really was a pipe dream. I've never set foot in that stadium, and it always looks somewhat imposing to me when I drive by. To me, that's where the big boys play.

What venue would have meant you had realized your dreams when you were a young athlete, artist, or performer?

I was a football player in high school in Alabama and graduated in 83. My dreams were realized my senior year when we advanced in the playoffs and played in Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and for the state championship at Legion Field in Birmingham. As a lifelong Alabama fan, those 2 stadiums were all that mattered!

The state championship game was played in the rain the week after the Alabama/Auburn game in 1982 and is listed as the number 5 all time most memorable game in Alabama high school football history:

I always wanted to pitch against Dale Murphy in Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and see how I would do against him.

Boston Garden. On ice...NOT the parquet floor.

Past grade school I never cared for events involving a ball of any kind. Don't understand it myself.

Track & field yes. Gymnastics yes.

1964 Olympic judo was of interest.

Like you, I preferred outdoor sports, and aspired to "play" them in places like Alaska and Africa. I'm fortunate in that I've been able to do so. Stalking "Buff" (Cape Buffalo) in the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania was almost surreal. Smile
