P250UA52018 Mercedes Benz G-Class 4x4,
Jealous.
Maybe one day, later in life, I can put a G in my garage.
I'm happy with my C for now.
Interesting G-wagen fact:
The G is the only (IIRC) Mercedes model where the AMG outsells the standard model.
It's a pretty rare thing around here to see a non-AMG G on the road.

Black92LXIf I could afford it I would without a doubt own the G Wagen. Not only that it would be taken off road ALOT!!
If I was able to play in that price range the only thing I would possibly get instead is a 200 series Land Cruiser outfitted to the Max with Slee parts and plenty of off-road accessories.
But I also have 3 kids so the G Wagen would be slightly cramped.

Sorry, I find this very hard to believe. Mercedes numbers are 14 mpg for Highway I do believe.
I doubt anyone has ever seen 16 mpg let alone 18.

I average about 12.5-13.1 mpg overall. If I drive exclusively on the highway, I might touch 16mpg but a short soon as I get off the exit it drops immediately lol.

No...Daimler-Benz. But technically they are ALL some version of Steyr-Daimler-Puch aren’t they? With Daimler-Benz listed as Mfg. So many various name changes within the original partnerships.

Correct. All G class Mercedes are manufactured by Steyr in Graz, Austria. They are a Daimler Benz design, but the manufacturing is subbed out to Steyr.

henryazIf I were ever fortunate enough to buy one, I would most certainly have MB replace those silly large wheels with skinny rubber with real rims/tires. That's about the only thing I see wrong with the newer models.

saigonsmugglerOff-roaded in one in Colorado and all over Texas (my brother's truck, bought brand new from Georgetown TX Mercedes dealership).
It was cramp inside. Gas pedal very heavy. Nice positive locking diffs in front and rear axles. In the tough stuffs, its very heavy weight and low break-over angle are its Achilles heel. It could not follow my SWB Jeep Rubicon on many steep rocky hill climbs.
But the interior is very lux.

Kampfhamsterwhile in the army I occassionally drove Steyr Puch 230 GE, which is more or less a G Wagon built by Steyr.
What a piece of shit. Robust, yes, reliable, yes. But way underpowered.
The new G wagons they're getting right now are much better.
Would never get one myself though. Too expensive to buy and to maintain.
The citizen watches the watchman, not the taxpayer.

Tough and reliable? Yes. Capable? Not so much. Hopefully the new ones are better
Really neat vehicle, and I'm sure they can be a ton of fun, particularly in AMG trim. Personally I'd be really hesitant to take one through the Florida swamps. Down here, "ugly" is an advantage, because if it isn't ugly when you start the trip, it will be when you finish.

redleg2/9I crack up whenever I see one of these and think what suckers Americans are for German vehicles.
The Germans are brilliant. They added leather, a/c, leather seats and flushed out luxury detailing in what the UN uses for a utility vehicle (remember the white ones driven by guys with blue helmets?), the French cut off the tops and use in marble quarries, and my Italian friend/agent uses when he doesn't want to dirty his Land Rover.
