Would love to know what polls those are? You could ask 100 random people walking the streets in Central Florida and my bet is, not one of them would even know who he was.

From my observations, 3000 miles away, DeSantis is not a very strong candidate. His primary opponent appeared to be much better. I watched one of their debates and kind of felt sorry for DeSantis as he got his ass handed to him. I figured that he would lose the primary handily.

But, it is FL, and there are a whole lot of powerful Republicans behind him, so....

The Mason Dixon poll October 3 shows a dead heat between DeSantis and Gillum. I am uncomfortable with that as I thought DeSantis would walk away with it. Same thing with the Senate race-I thought Scott would destroy Nelson but they are saying it is a dead heat. Gillum worries me because he wants a state income tax and to raise property taxes in the state. The New York/New Jersey South in the I95 corridor would like to make Florida like the places they were escaping when they moved here. Republicans had better get their asses to the voting booth in November, there is a lot riding on this election.

You're right--Putnam was a very solid, center right candidate. And Graham was a solid, center left candidate. Both lost so we're left with two candidates further out on either end of the political spectrum--essentially a proxy war between Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. I don't know anyone who is happy about that.

I don't get FL politics, though I travel there a lot. How is Bill Nelson not a total laughing stock? The guy looks and talks like a claymation cartoon character. "We gotta ban these banana clips!" Who the hell takes someone like that seriously? How is Scott not walking away with this one? But then, how did Nelson get elected in the first place? I met Bob Graham and Connie Mack a few times and those guys seemed like genuine, measured, reasonable guys. Bill Nelson ain't.

If the polls say it is a dead heat, then it is probably a 6-8 point edge in the favor of the Republican, but dirty democratic voting in the Dade-Broward area can offset a tight victory for Republicans. Like the rest of the country, conservatives need a high turnout to offset the dirty tricks and insure a victory. Otherwise we risk a plunge into the dark ages.

Personally, I think Gillum is his own worst enemy. If he were more centrist democrat he'd have a shot, but his far left socialist agenda is going to hurt him with a majority of Florida voters. That and Trump backing DeSantis, with all of the Trump administration accomplishments, and Florida's tendency of electing Republicans as governor, should push him across the finish line. And for the record, I was a Adam Putnam supporter.

Scott's got a real battle on his hands to defeat Nelson. Nelson is about as entrenched a politician as you'll ever find. From scaring senior citizens to pandering to hispanics and minorities, Nelson knows how to win in his district. This time around though it seems different in that Scott has been able to make deep inroads into the hispanic base Nelson needs to win. It will be very close on election day, but my hope is Scott will finally unseat Nelson.

Gillum's brother and sister being investigated for voter fraud

https://www.breitbart.com/poli...aged-in-voter-fraud/

Gillum’s brother, Marcus Gillum, voted in the 2016 general election in Tallahassee, Florida while a resident of Chicago, Illinois.

Leon County voting records show Marcus Gillum voted by absentee in the 2012 general election, absentee in the 2014 primary election, and early voted in the 2016 general election.

But the trouble is, months before he cast that 2016 ballot in Florida, Marcus Gillum, in an affidavit for an unrelated court case, swore under oath he was a resident of Chicago.

Also, according to records, Marcus Gillum is still currently registered to vote in Leon County at a home that his brother, gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, sold over three years ago.

Furthermore, Florida Department of Motor Vehicle records show that Marcus Gillum has not had a valid Florida drivers license since 2011.

Voter records indicate that Monique Gillum, Andrew Gillum’s sister, voted in Florida despite questions about residency.

Monique Gillum voted absentee in the 2012 general election, absentee in 2014 primary election, early voted in the 2016 general election, and voted in the 2018 primary election.

However, like her brother Marcus, voting records also show that Monique Gillum is still currently registered to vote at the St. Ives address. However, the mailing address she provided to the Leon County Supervisor of Elections is a P.O Box in New York City.

Public records show Monique Gillum does have a current Florida drivers license with a Tallahassee address. However, the address is different from the two provided to the Leon County Supervisor of Elections.

Also, other records, including work she did as a registered lobbyist for the Southern Poverty Law Center, indicate that Monique resided in Montgomery, Alabama from 2014 to 2016.

And that is what we get with closed primaries, candidates further to each side of the spectrum.

Consider the ethnic makeup of Sanford. The majority of that city will vote entirely based on skin color. Most of them know nothing about Gillum beyond the fact he looks like them.

Even with Trump's support, DeSantis is a weak candidate. That coupled with the fact a large part of Florida has lost its mind in the past 10 years, has me a bit worried about the outcome of this one. The only somewhat bright spot is even if Gillium does somehow get elected, the Florida legislature is solidly Republican, so he shouldn't find much support for his socialist wet dreams.

A significant percentage of our voting population is either GDC or gimme^alla^free^shit or fraudulent, or any combination of the preceding.

See?

Agree about the voting polls although the point spread may be a little less (3 to 5). I don't know of any conservatives except one or two in my circle of friends and family that answer polling calls or questions and they are numerous, even here in South Florida, myself included. Of the couple of people I know that may have answered one, they actually said they supported the liberal, the complete opposite answer. I have received quite a few identified through caller ID including robocalls with the press a number for the candidate you support that I heard partial voicemails of before deleting them.

As for the Miami-Dade and Broward shenanigans, because of what happened during the last election with the premature destruction of ballots and other suspect issues, Rick Scott has sent state officials to oversee the election process down here. A welcome development for sure and should be standard practice every election to help keep things as honest as possible.

Latest CNN poll a 1 point race, which given the typical bias in polling, could be good news for DeSantis.

I can't even believe that a Gillum governorship is a possibility. The world has gone mad.
