Sometimes, even being careful, this happens.

Any number of reasons results in this; needle hit a capillary, needle wasn't at a 90 degree angle, not enough fat content where the needle was stuck, and so on. Didn't even know it had happened until this morning, when I lifted my shirt to give myself a shot. Nor does it hurt.

I feel ya, dog. I'm on Trulicity now, in addition to insulin and oral meds. The stupid delivery system is semi-automated. It auto-injects-on a spring-and I often get results like yours or worse. I have to find the fattest part of my body to inject, which means either twisting to hit my butt cheek or having my wife inject me. But it beat hell out of many other diseases people live with, so I guess I'll shut up and be happy.

Oh, that’s not the thickest part. Chest, shoulders and back, I tell people they’ll happily never see me shirtless because the Zoo will be getting all these calls about something escaped. “We can’t tell exactly what it is, but you need to get someone out here with a tranquilizer gun and recapture it!”

I’m Type 1 and on an insulin pump. I’ve had a couple of seizures; the aftermath really sucks. It felt like most of my muscles had been ripped off, tenderized, and taped back on.

Fortunately for me it was just the right arm, however I felt wrung out. I told someone at the hospital I felt as though I had an out of body experience.

Ugh!!!

Over nearly 30 years on shots now, I've seen my own share of those.

There's a check list of about 5 specifics I review to that seems to decrease the frequency of such happening. If you'd like will share, probably no difference from 'the REAL basics' of how 'we SHOULD' be taking our shots.

This made me laugh.

And, since I've had Type 1 Diabetes for 33+ years, I can relate. Less of a problem since using an Insulin Pump for the 9 last years, but have done similar (and worse a couple times) using syringes multiple times a day for many years.

After 30 years of type 1 I have had my fair share of bruises. I also have area's of my stomach that are toughened to where the needle no longer penetrates.

I've never had any seizures though. Plenty of low's that sent me running to the fridge. The highs never effected me more then just making me tired drowsy and thirsty.

Often the "belly" is a result of the disease, rather than the cause. You need not be fat to get diabetes.

I always have been pretty lean, when I graduated from HS I weighed 145 and stayed there for many years, the heaviest I have ever been was 205, right now I’m 175. I’m 5’ 10”, by the way.

I’m not sure how much the fur adds to the total. Wink

the complete guide to fasting (review)

The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss

my wife has type 2 diabetes. her A1c was 6.4 on her last 3 month check-up. 6.5 is diabetes, 6.4 is not. i have been on atkins since 3-30-3018 and she obviously pays attention to what i'm doing. she sees the inches coming off, the weight loss, what i cook, what i eat, so she starts cutting carbs. she still hasn't gone in whole hog, and probably never will. but just cutting one of the major carbs that she eats (rice), she dropped below 6.5.

if i could get her to adjust when she eats, using intermittent fasting, now aka time-restricted eating (TRE). all that is is only eating during a set time - 10 hours, 12 hours. watch this video on TRE.

Satchin Panda, Ph.D. on Time-Restricted Feeding and Its Effects on Obesity, Muscle Mass & Heart Health

you don't have to inject yourself with insulin for the rest of your life. all these doctors know / do is now to treat symptoms. they do not treat the cause. the cause is insulin resistance - the body loses the ability to store fat, so eventually you are prescribed insulin and it's all downhill from there. you never get better.

Dr. Fung is a Nephrologist, kidney specialist. he treated diabetics and knew that they never got better. now he gets people off diabetic meds and insulin with intermittent fasting.
