OTD, the man is incapable of speaking clearly and succinctly, and the smoke screen he puts up is to his advantage.

To me, it's quite simple- any German citizen who supports the Merkel government is supporting the rapid destruction of their own country, and all the verbosity in the world cannot change or hide this fact.

This is the reason there is no sensationalist journalism in Germany the way you know it in the US. If the child was beheaded was a question AfD based on a rumor AfD wanted to have answered, knowing as well there will be no answer based on the legal article mentioned above. Instead it was turned into a matter of censorship from an conservative American focus.

What you are reading here is a manipulation. When you go through the article you will not find any information the beheading took happen, only a development of a speculation. You are looking at is an opinion based on an American optic about an issue that happened in an entirely different legal system . Having a muslim involved is in fact helpful for that cause due to the actual immigration politics. In the same time a case about child rape which was treated with the same cover of privacy but without any interest from the nazionalist AfD. Probably because the couple in charge fit the demagogic patter of its voters.

Asking the opinion or a political party about information behaviour of a court is nonsense anyway. The legal system is above politcs. It's not like in Poland or Hungary where a political party can have influence the court.

A discussion about such issues in not supressed in Germany. The problem is that an oppinion is treaed differently. You cannot argue with worlds like "I heard, based on information I got etc". If you want to state an opinion you an do that, but you better dont do it on a rumor. This difference is the reason why US elections are much more fun to observe and also, why Banshee needs more words to explain a situaion. Over here truthiness is compared with lying.

OTD, how does a fact affect human dignity?

I’ve seen the video, the toddler was beheaded. No opinion here.

I'm sure that's true, since they managed to dispose of six million Jews in less than a decade.

I find it impossible to take such remarks seriously. This isn't the first Muslim invasion of Europe. The difference before was that back then, Europeans repelled this vermin. This time, they are welcoming them with open arms, to the exclusion and detriment of their own people. It's the same kind of thing American leftists are trying to do with their "open borders" shit.
Insanity. Utter insanity. You cannot reason with irrational people. Most of Europe is bound and determined to show how very kind and open-minded they are, by allowing in parasites who rape, murder and consume public resources to the point of collapse.

It's truly insane behavior, but they're bound and determined, so let them destroy their continent.

Do Germans have a word for “mindless, senseless self destruction”? It’s one thing for the politicians to go along with it; clearly they’re profiting from it, and have the resources to (at least for the time being) protect themselves and their families from the invading filth.

But what about the general population that is in the direct path of the steamroller? Using the frog in steadily warming water simply falls short here; this is an unstoppable juggernaut inexorably bearing down on them. Europe is lost.

Sure. Note that the piece is basing its charge of censorship on German media reports about the issue that supposedly cannot be reported.

It is the first article in fact, on which the other 18 enumerating the basic rights in the German constitution are based. Though as the Gatestone piece points out, the relevant legislation was somewhat controversial when it was introduced in 2014; but not necessarily due to the aim of getting people to stop filming victims of accidents etc. in the street with their smartphones and plastering the video all over Facebook and similar. This has become a particular problem in autobahn crashes where passing drivers are not just slowing and rubbernecking as it always was, but getting out their phones to film while driving, in some cases even stopping or getting out of the vehicle to get a better shot, becoming aggressive against first responders trying to send them off.

Another angle was cyberbullying, like kids filming/uploading video as they gang up against a victim, statutory rape videos and the posting of revenge porn after breakups; I thought at the time that I would possibly have been up on charges under the new code for taking pictures of a classmate who had drunk himself senseless at a camping party we had in highschool, and whom we lovingly arranged with folded hands in his sleeping bag to look like a body lying in state. The controversial bit was neither of the above though, but the part banning to take nude images of persons under 18 for monetary purposes to fight child porn. People were worried that parents could no longer snap pictures of their naked toddlers, of their kids at the nude beach, etc. - rather overwrought, since the lack of a monetary aspect would usually be pretty obvious.

Overall, Germany is pretty tight on privacy issues, including both victims and perpetrators in crimes. Reporting the full names of suspects or perp-walking them before cameras US-style is usually out since it is considered a violation of the presumption of innocence, sure to stick to you even after eventual acquittal. The irony is that when authorities go to public search of a suspect, he or she is of course reported with full name and picture; as soon as apprehended however, his or her last name is usually shortened to the initial, and the face blurred in images. That happened recently in a high-profile murder case of a 14-year old girl from Mainz, where the chief suspect was a 21-year-old asylum seeker who fled back to Northern Iraq with his family, but was detained by local Kurdish authorities and unceremoniously dumped on the plane with which the head of German Federal Police flew down to make use of his personal good relations there, without as much as a court warrant; the Iraqi central government was pretty pissed.

Then again, some controversial bits of the German media's self-regulatory code are actually due to US influence, namely not to report the nationality/ethnicity of a suspect if not necessary for understanding the crime. That was introduced in 1971 upon criticism by the Association of German-American Clubs that German media couldn't help themselves mentioning race whenever there was an incident with a black US soldier based here, unlike with white GIs; no doubt an outgrowth of the American civil rights movement. The code was relaxed again last year after lengthy debate on reporting immigrant crime, though it was always just a guideline that couldn't be legally enforced. Some papers had already gone over to always reporting specifics on suspects on the not unreasonable principle that the usual complainers will think it was a damn immigrant when it's not outright stated otherwise anyway (though the same people will just think it was a damn immigrant with a German passport even if a suspect is reported to be categorically German).

I wouldn't slag American media too much on feeding opinion, either. German print media can be just as opinionated, if not so bipolar due to the local multi-party system as opposed to the great Republican-Democrat divide, which tends to sharpen debate. Most US TV is not too dissimilar to the German in shape of political reporting either, despite the greater share of public broadcasters here. What in fact we don't have is channels operating on the Rupert Murdoch principle of selling an opinion to receptive audiences, where Fox News and MSNBC are conspicious in the US for their right and left tilt respectively.

Neither would I define the challenge of integration following the 2015/16 crisis exactly as a piece of cake; it's no doubt doable, and not the biggest economical hardship we ever faced by far - we absorbed twelve million displaced persons from the former German territories in the east after WW II, 4.5 million nominally ethnic Germans from Eastern Europe and the fUSSR (most of them in the 90s), Vietnamese boat people, Kurds and Lebanese civil war refugees in the 70s and 80s, shouldered re-unification with the socialist basket case of East Germany, and took in 350,000 refugees from the Balkan wars (that led to similar popular anti-immigrant sentiment as today). But the political challenge is certainly greater this time, and we're still in a learning curve to acknowledge and deal with our new role as the second-biggest country of immigration worldwide after the US. We could actually take a couple lessons from you guys in Switzerland, as you have the greatest share of immigrants relative to population in Europe, except Luxembourg IIRC.

I really appreciate how BS1 talks about the “re-unification of the basket case that was East Germany”, which I do agree with - this was a country with the same background and values as West Germany, separated by 2-3 generations of socialist rule and idiocy.

Now try taking in a million+ immigrants from countries with no shared values, in fact their values are diametrically opposed to German beliefs. Oh, and the places where these “immigrants” hail from have been literally run in the fashion of a Bronze Age tribe for... 1400 years? Yeah, that’s a bit harder to integrate than Hans from East Berlin.

Banshee, that last bit was sarcasm - it will be impossible to integrate those, in the numbers they have arrived.

Everyone knows why Germany is doing this.

1933 to 1945

That's all you need to know. The biggest freakin' guilt trip the world has ever seen. Germany is fucking itself- willingly and enthusiastically- because of their recent history. "See?? See?? We're not evil people!! See?? Yes, come on in! No papers? No problem!!! Yeah, we don't ask for papers any more!" {cringe}

If this offends anyone, tough shit. It's the truth and everyone knows it.
