Not surprised at all, though there was some pundit I recall who was saying before Trump had put his cabinet together that there was absolutely no way Trump would appoint Bolton, because of his moustache. Gave me a chuckle, at least.
From what I understand, John Bolton could not be made a member of the Cabinet because there are Senators who would filibuster any attempt to get him approved.

I've always liked Bolton. I think he's a great choice.

I don't remember the details but, years back, some reporter asked Bolton if other countries would be upset with some vote or motion in the UN. Bolton said I don't care, I look after the interest of the United States!

On Fox New Special Report tonight, someone said Rand Paul was one of those. Sometimes I wonder what he's thinking...

Because Rand Paul believes Bolton is way too hawkish. Extremely so. He and Bolton i don't think get along.

It will be interesting to see if Trump signs the spending bill the Senate just passed. Wow.

I, for one, hope he vetoes it. It is time that the Republicans begin insisting that they are the ruling party and only permit legislation they approve. There was no "need" to add more social spending just because they were increasing the spending for the military--they are separate entities and their destinies are not intertwined. They need to get back to the concept of passing bills for individual needs and not lump a bunch of unrelated stuff into an "omnibus" bull. If something needs money, authorize it. If others think something else needs to be addressed, use a separate bill for its allotment. Each should pass or fail on its own merit and support.

Rand Paul is an obstructionist idiot whose attitude towards actual progress (not some pie in the sky fantasy bullshit rolling around in his head, that could NEVER happen) is the very same as Democrats/leftists. The very same.

There is no difference between this guy and the left. Obstruction is obstruction, no matter how many of your personal, unrealistic fantasies about how the world should be that you tie to it. Obstruction is obstruction.

Sanity may prevail. Trump is threatening to veto the omnibus budget bill. Rush had it right: the swamp and leftists created this POS to weaken Trump supporters resolve should he sign it.

There seem to be plenty here who will abandon the President at the drop of a hat.

Yesterday, I locked a thread full of pissing and moaning over this. Maybe those guys woud prefer Hillary Clinton as President. What do you think we'd have then?

Whatever happened to loyalty and gratitude?

If we must have 30 hours of debate to discuss every single Trump nominee, why shouldn't we have 30 hours of debate on each and every independent budget issue?

Planned Parenthood? 30 hour debate and vote on that funding.

Border Wall? 30 hour debate and vote on that funding.

Military? 30 hour debate and vote on that funding.

I'm not a fan of bills having a million different things in them and having to take all or nothing. In fact, there are very few reasons that we should be voting on anything that can't be printed on a sheet or two of paper.
