Sorry for your loss.

Everybody's got to die sooner or later. Early this year, my sister who won her fight with cancer died from liver failure most likely from the chemicals they used to fight the cancer with.

But hope springs eternal. Early today, we visited a friend who had an operation for breast cancer and they also found a spot on her liver. The test results came back today and they shared she is completely cancer free. But that's all that she has to deal with. Oh, well her husband is blind from macular degeneration and their 35 year old daughter functions as a 5 year old and needs care.

But this is in contrast to yet a third friend who, after being cancer free for 3 years, got cancer again and in less than a year, she died. Her daughter was still going to college at the time.

You're right. Cancer sucks.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

My wife lost both her parents to cancer. Her father was in the Army during the 1950s and down in Nevada during the above ground nuclear testing. He died from the radiation exposure as a result of his Army service. At the end, it was ghastly. You have my condolences. This is a terrible disease that I hope some day they can cure.

Bill I'm very sorry for the loss of your brother, when we loose a close family member we loose a little part off ourself. It's a curse of a disease that often takes otherwise perfectly healthy people before their time. The same type of cancer took both of my parents who were otherwise in excellent health. I guess that's what I have to look forward to......

Sorry for the loss of your brother. I know that this does not sound fair, but at least it was quick.

I just got diagnosed with a real nasty cancer and find out my 2-5 year survival %'s after surgery in April. If it is meant for me to go, I want to go quick and hopefully lesson my families agony (hope that this does not sound too morbid)
