Murkowski and Flake were no votes all along. This is just a tactic to delay, delay, delay, hoping that their cohorts win the senate.

I seriously hope no one is falling for this "investigate for a week" bullshit. The left got what they wanted, an unending investigation unless Mitch can convince a dem or two to commit.

Voted 11 to 10 to recommend Kavanaugh to the floor.

Vote occurred, then the dems were like "uh wait, what about this FBI thing?" then the 2 hour rule was called.

It appears Diane Feinstein is finally on her way out the door. Good News!

It appears that Mazie Hirono and Kamala Harris are ascendant in the Democrat Party. Bad News!

Iowa, our old people are smarter than California's old people. DiFi's been 5 minutes to Wappner throughour this without her handlers. Grassley has been iritated when his aides interrupt him. I've happy with Grassley through this, hope we can clone him or swap out his engine to get more mileage out if him.

Yep. They have already floated the impeachment strategy if he is seated.

So lets get him confirmed and they can try their luck with that.

I'm not so sure the FBI wants any of this. Who has to request it? McConnel? Trump?
I wouldn't be surprised that when the request is made the FBI gives a statement about not being able to investigate a non federal crime. This is a civil matter that needs to be handled by local authorities where the alleged crime occurred. This needs to be initiated by Ms. Ford filing a complaint with local authorities in the jurisdiction where this happened. There is not a statute of limitations where this supposedly took place.

In addition we have already completed our background investigation of Judge Kavanaugh.
I'm not sure the FBI needs or wants to open up another can of political worms on themselves.

Edit to add. Didn't Grassley or somebody say today they were told by the FBI they have done their part and the matter is closed on their end?

I think this is going to be fine either way. The only reason they are calling for a delay is they already have something cooked up on him or they will find another way to delay. Mitch should call for a vote and force the Democrats in tight races to make a choice. Either they vote for him and save their seats or he doesn't make it and the GOP gains a bunch of seats in November.

Flake and the others aren't going along with this even if they wait a week. They will say we have to have more hearings because of "what they find" and we'll be sitting right here again. It is time to move forward and force their hand.

So some Senators want to delay for an FBI investigation. From what I know the FBI has said there is nothing more to investigate.

They(the FBI) did a background check. Done. If the FBI was to believe everything said about BK is true there is still no reason for them to investigate. No crimes to prosecute and any crimes that may have happened wouldn't fall under the FBI umbrella. It would fall under the local police.

So more delaying tactics.

Am I missing something as to the FBI involvement? Will they reopen a background check? Are these accusations reason to reopen a check? Do the first need to vet the allegations?

From what I have been able to watch lots of Senators are making fools of themselves.

The FBI will question the same people that already gave statements. It will lead to he said, she said and won't go anywhere.

Our guy Chuck got reelected in 2016 and his term ends in 2022. I'm expecting - and hoping - he'll hang it up, but I'm also hoping the Iowa GOP is grooming someone to take his place. There are no successors that readily come to to mind.

There has been a lot of confusion about this topic. The FBI completes background checks on candidates for various post, including Supreme Court Justice. They have already completed one on Kavanaugh for this process. What is being asked is that the FBI background check be reopened to examine this specific matter. I believe the same thing was done in the Clarance Thomas confirmation after Anita Hill made her accusations.

Dems want the FBI to exonerate BK like a cop wants you to pass roadside sobriety test. Rest assured, they're not calling for an FBI investigation because they want to vote for BK, but need more evidence of his good character. They have some deep staters at FBI lined up to "find something" and then the delay tactics will continue. DiFi could have called the FBI months ago. Eff the Dems. I hope Trump and McConnell play very hardball here.

And BTW, since Murkowski won her latest election as a write-in, despite losing the primary, she doesn't owe anyone anything and can truly vote her conscience.

I'd be fine with it if they also investigated Ford's testimony, how she came to contact Feinstein, how her name got leaked, who told her to claim she if afraid to fly, why her parents and siblings didn't support her, etc.

I like how you are thinking....
Who is to be investigated?
Judge Kavanaugh? Chrissy Balsey Ford? Both?
Perhaps an FBI investigation can completely blow Ford's credibility?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I've said it before and I'll say it again, that man is the absolute definition of a coward. Answer the woman you limp dick! "Yes, I believe Judge Kavanaugh is telling the truth and I do not believe Dr. Ford provided enough corroborating evidence for her allegation to warrant any sort of investigation. Thank you and good day."

I loathed this moron before this confirmation hearing ever began, and if its even possible, I loathe the man even more today.
