As Virginia Escalates Gun Control, The NRA Steps In And Is Handing Out Free 30 Round Magazines According To Statement Just Released

NRA handing out 30-round magazines in Virginia as part of fight against Democrat gun control

There’s a showdown coming over gun rights in Virginia…

By Jon Dougherty

(TNS) As part of its efforts to beat back or otherwise circumvent a bevy of new gun control measures being proposed by majority Democrats in Virginia, the National Rifle Associated has come up with a novel approach.

The gun rights group plans to hand out 1,000 30-round magazines to Virginians on Monday as Second Amendment advocates gather for their annual gun lobbying effort in the capital of Richmond.

The magazines are compliments of Magpul Industries — a renowned magazine and firearm accessory maker.

EMERGENCY AIRLIFT: @Magpul_HQ sent us 1,000 30 Round PMAGs to hand out tomorrow in Richmond to NRA members who show up to fight Northam’s extreme gun ban!

We’ll see everyone TOMORROW at the General Assembly Building in Senate Sub-Committee Room #1 on the 5th Floor at 8am!

Monday is the day that the NRA asked Second Amendment advocates to flood the Senate and Assembly offices of lawmakers in an effort to overwhelm gun control voices.

Breitbart’s Awr Hawkins notes:

Democrats in the Virginia legislature have already put forward a number of bills, one of which is Delegate Mark Levine’s (D) HB 961.

Levine’s bill bans “assault weapons,” “high-capacity” magazines, certain triggers, and suppressors, among other things. The bill puts forward a means by which “assault weapon” owners can apply for a license to retain their gun, but the trade-off is that their names are entered into a database.

Owners of “high-capacity” magazines, certain triggers, and suppressors, will have a grace period to get rid of the accessories/devices, after which they will face felony charges for possessing them.

We reported on New Year’s Day that the NRA warned the first few weeks of the year were vital in stopping a rush by Democrats to destroy gun rights in a state that has long enjoyed them:

Law-abiding gun owners throughout the Commonwealth must continue to join together to fight against gun bans, gun rationing, and confiscation this January in Richmond. Your NRA has events planned for the early, critical days of the 2020 legislative session.

The first hearing of the Senate Courts of Justice Committee is January 13th, where lawmakers could hear the first slate of bills to restrict our freedom into oblivion. It’s critical that law-abiding gun owners are heard on this day, because waiting even one week to make our voices heard, whether individually or at an organized event, will simply be too late.

Anti-gun zealot Gov. Northam wants the entire package of gun control bills fast-tracked for passage in the first week of the short session. We must defend freedom at the very first hearing on the 13th and show the new bought and paid for anti-gun majority that our rights are not for sale – to Bloomberg or anyone else.

In response to the raft of gun control legislation Democrats are preparing, most jurisdictions in the state have declared themselves “Second Amendment sanctuaries,” meaning local officials will not assist state authorities in enforcing new gun ordinances they believe are unconstitutional.

Democrats don’t like that, of course, and the state AG, Mark Herring, has declared such sanctuaries to be ‘null and void’ — but of course, he hasn’t taken a similar stand against the state’s sanctuaries for illegal aliens, so the gun rights folks aren’t paying his hypocrisy much heed.

There’s a showdown coming in Virginia over gun rights. We can just sense it.

There are three big steps to get there

1 . Get 10,000 petition signatures for Gade to be on the Rep primary ballot

Do you have 10,000 yet? I'd be glad to meet you somewhere to give you mine.

No we are really just beginning. You are not allowed to start getting signatures until 1 Jan 2020. You must get them all by 26 Mar 2020

That's about 12 weeks.

This is a big hurdle for first time politicians w no state wide infrastructure. I am getting a lesson in how important money is in a political campaign.

The Town of Culpeper is a Constitutional Town by a vote of 6 to 2.

About 80 people showed up, of which, about 75% were there for the 2A resolution. About a dozen people spoke. Two were against, the rest were in favor.

Stuff It Northam!

I didn't know NC was having to go through this too.

Just in time for Lobby Day on January 20, an event that has happened every year for years on end without any hint of incident to date. Governor Northam is absolutely unhinged. I'm not even sure he has the authority to do this:

quote:

Gov. Northam to declare temporary emergency banning all weapons from Capitol grounds

(AP) – Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam plans to declare a temporary emergency Wednesday banning all weapons, including guns, from Capitol Square ahead of a massive rally planned next week over gun rights.

Virginia State Capitol in Richmond, Virginia, USA.

That’s according to two state officials who were briefed on the plans but not authorized to speak publicly about them.

One official says the Democratic governor plans to announce the plans at a news conference Wednesday afternoon because of credible threats of potential violence and extremism.

The planned announcement comes days after lawmakers voted to ban firearms at the Capitol, saying the move was needed to protect public safety.

AP reports Friday’s ban did not include Capitol grounds, which are under the governor’s control.

The governor’s declaration will also reportedly ban items like helmets and shields, which are what some white nationalists carried in the Charlottesville protest in 2017.

It is unknown how long the temporary ban will be in effect.

Micropterus,

VCDL just stated they had attorneys ready to fight that but they need to wait until he releases an actual statement/ban.

Creditable threat my ass. He's just trying to silence us. Makes me want to come with an AR slung across my back and stand right outside of whatever imaginary line he wants to draw.

Not only is Northam a lying, conniving, racist prick, but he's a fucking scaredy-cat, as well. He's just fine with bulking up his personal protective detail, but is adamant about disarming the rest of us. This is EXACTLY the kind of attitude and behavior that caused us to toss King George III on his ass.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

He is hoping that he can convince us not to come and all he is doing is strengthening our resolve.

Skins, I like the way you’re thinking. Wink. Maybe set up perimeter security for the group.

Remember Gents- According to arbitrary state law one cannot legally carry a rifle with a magazine larger than 20 rounds (because...you know...that lack of 10rds made all the difference to the original design) unless you have a chp. Then of course drive on.

Portsmouth and Hopewell voted to become 2nd Amendment sanctuary cities. PORTSMOUTH AND HOPEWELL! Two ultra-Democrat cities. One of Portsmouth's councilmen came to the meeting wearing an AR15 across his chest. When Democrats lose Portsmouth and Hopewell, they've lost big time.

Whoa!! P-town is a 2A sanctuary?! Eek I cannot believe Portsmouth did it!

Cmon Norfolk what’s the hold up?

I love that Davidson County NC joined the good fight. I ride my motorcycle in Davidson County all the time. I’d actually been considering buying land there and changing my auto registration to that county to avoid my counties idiotic emissions testing. (Eventually I’m going to get something fun to drive/modify and cannot be bothered with malarkey like emission testing) Now that I know good people who support the 2A live there I want to buy land there even more!

[thread drift] My family is after me to move to NC, totally unrelated to the nutty events going on in Richmond. Maybe Davidson County is a place to look at [eventually]. [/thread drift... Back to the fight!]
