Americans Learning to Live with Treason
By Peggy Ryan

Pop the champagne corks, set off the fireworks, former FBI Director, James Comey nixed the "Russian collusion." In his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey cleared President Trump of all charges – no collusion, no conspiracy, no investigation, no there there.

Yay! It's over. The Russian conspiracy nonsense is finally debunked. Whew!

Does anyone else see the insanity here – that we celebrate when the president is cleared of phony charges, that we breathe a sigh of relief when the fired FBI director fails to establish an obstruction of justice charge?

Does anyone wonder why we anxiously watch each inane congressional hearing to see if the left gets the goods to pull off its coup, why we wake up each morning terrified that the insurgents have hit their mark, found something, anything they can use to depose a duly elected president?

We are watching, in real-time, a palace revolution, an overt effort to remove the president of the United States. Just as James Comey proudly admitted he leaked privileged communication to the press, so these insurgents brazenly brag that they want to harm the president, to impeach him, to overthrow our government. The American people seem shockingly oblivious to the looming danger.

How did we get here? Well, let's give credit where credit's due: the left has its ducks in a row. Leftists are carrying out a carefully planned, well executed plot to take control of our government.

Oh, it's not soldiers bursting through the White House gates to forcefully remove the president, or, as the left says, not yet. No, they're using a form of behavior therapy, systematic desensitization, to numb the American people to their insurgence.

Systematic desensitization is a technique used to treat phobias. The patient, while relaxed, is exposed to progressively more frightening aspects of his phobia. For instance, treatment for arachnophobia, fear of spiders, might start by showing the phobic an image of a spider. The patient employs relaxation techniques while exposed to the image until he overcomes his anxiety. Next, a real spider may be introduced, far away, in a cage. After the person accepts that exposure, the spider is taken out of the cage and moved closer and closer until the patient is able to hold a live spider in his hand.

Congress, corporate and social media, activist courts, and a contingent in our intelligence community unite to form a cabal (a conspiratorial group of plotters). This cabal uses this desensitization technique to condition us to overcome our fear of losing our freedom, of a disappearing democracy.

Using this technique, the cabal does something wrong, illegal, or unconstitutional – behavior that's a threat to our republic.

• Benghazi – Obama and his administration to the American people that a video caused the horrific massacre. President and allies openly engage in cover-up.

• FBI investigation on Hillary Clinton – Comey announces Hillary's guilty on all counts, then the judgment, and she walks. A two-tier justice system; Hillary's above the law.

• CNN caught giving to Hillary Clinton. Democrats rig debates. Democrats cheat Bernie Sanders out of the nomination. Democrats rig elections.

These are just a few of the unacceptable transgressions by our corrupt leaders. Each time, outraged conservatives demand that the perpetrators be brought to justice. Each time, the press gaslights the American people with a media blackout, acts as though the incident never happened. Each time, the cabal rides out the news cycle until the story fades, and everyone's home free.

Time and again, the deception, lawlessness, violation of the Constitution, or open act of sedition is met with disbelief. This is banana republic stuff; these things don't happen in America. The people look to our system of checks and balances to restore order.

Except the only checks the members of Congress care about are the ones from their donors, and some in Congress are actually members in good standing with the cabal. But the courts will intervene, right? Nope – the courts are no longer confined to interpreting the law. They now make the law – not a reprieve, but another hurdle.

Oh, and our media, that last bastion of democracy – they're actually facilitating the coup. They ignore the transgressions, excuse them, or explain them until our anxiety wanes and we learn to live with treason. Then it's on to the next level, the spider moving ever closer.

Conservatives sidestep the seriousness of this open rebellion. National media waging a campaign to usurp our president is not bad journalism; its sedition:

To write, print, utter or publish, or cause it to be done, or assist in it, any false, scandalous, and malicious writing against the government of the United States, or either House of Congress, or the President, with intent to defame, or bring either into contempt or disrepute, or to excite against either the hatred of the people of the United States, or to stir up sedition.

Wow – that's like the media's playbook, right? Well, there are some who see the problem. Freedom Watch's Larry Klayman is demanding regulatory enforcement action against CNN for "a persistent campaign of dangerous, incendiary, false, and libelous propaganda against now President Trump." It's a start.

The media's role in this conspiracy is why their effusive praise for the newly appointed special prosecutor of nonexistent crimes, Comey's BFF and mentor, Robert Mueller, is a red flag. The dichotomy of a prosecutor without a crime to prosecute is troubling. Questions abound. What's his mission? How will he prosecute if his friend, Comey, is implicated? Or maybe we're just being paranoid, overly dramatic. Or maybe it's the next level, the spider within reach.

What's next? Will this cabal one day walk into the Oval Office and escort the president out, to prison, to execution? Ridiculous, you say. This is America.

Really? Is it America when national media poison the people against their president, stir sedition, and advocate an overthrow? Is it America when nearly all news outlets publish lies and fake news to indict the president?

Is it America when Democrats "resist" and "obstruct" our government with the stated intention of weakening the president, making him an easier target; when courts establish authority over our commander-in-chief on foreign policy; when our intelligence communities use their superpowers to spy on the American people with impunity?

Is it America when the left invents a story, Russian collusion, and every branch of our government advances the lie, when the media join forces to turn news channels into indoctrination centers to smear the president, to prop up the Russian fiction?

Even if the Russian contrivance falls through, these rebels will keep the ground they've taken, and it's significant. They've recruited a sizable number to their cause with their lies, fake scandals, and Hitler-style indoctrination. They've normalized lawlessness and deception, rigged investigations, erected a two-tiered justice system, rigged debates, rigged elections, and instituted a national campaign to usurp the president. Seriously, what's left?

They could still pull the Russian thing off. After all, the only steps we're taking to stop this coup d'état is to whine about witch hunts, call them sore losers, left-wing media, and spineless Republicans. But in the end, that's like complaining that the guy slashing you to death is using a dull knife.

Lies and fake news are the norm these days, the once unthinkable and now the expected. This cabal is a powerful alliance. If we don't stop them, if we continue to allow this open treason, they'll eventually reach their goal, and there will be no way back.

Ronald Reagan warned: "You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, 'There is a price we will not pay.' 'There is a point beyond which they must not advance.'"

I pray he's right. Their price is our freedom, their next stop tyranny. And they're moving ever closer.

One man's revolution is another man's sedition.

The media is the only uncontrolled, and uncontrollable, activity in our culture. Look at the criticality of publicity in this age of information, shaping perceptions.

Bill Cosby had lawyers but also PR man at his side. One report said that Comey has had a PR firm working for him for years.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

The question is "what to do about it?"

Obviously, all legal forms of prosecution against leaks should be pursued vigorously.

The press has ALWAYS had an agenda and been willing to lie. We are simply paying the price right now for our (conservatives) sort of ignoring our responsibility to articulate and emphasize conservative values in every aspect of life, including in education and the arts.

For example: most governmental entities and significant private companies are virtually required to have "Celebrate Diversity" days, awareness, parades...etc, all under the pretext of "diversity".
Yet the "diversity" always calls out specifically the LBGTQ..etc communities as the "celebratees".

Think about it: TOLERANCE and protecting peoples' RIGHTS (when they are legitimate rights) is something that all Americans should always do.
But by pressuring me to CELEBRATE the LBTGQ...communities, you are pressuring me to celebrate immorality.
Where is the right of the vast majority of people to hold on to their morality, and have it "celebrated" and promoted? Isn't that making them "feel uncomfortable" ?
Where is THEIR "freedom of religion".

This of course is just one example that shows how the Liberal/Left is always successful at moving things in their direction only: anything THEY deems as acceptable becomes a "right" and must be "celebrated". Anything YOU want is "hateful" and "bigoted" and "depriving people of their rights".
That's why Trump DESERVES to be removed. They really have convinced the average, brainwashed, low-information liberal that Trump is EVIL, because he made Comey "feel uncomfortable", and is depriving Syrian refugees and illegal aliens of the "rights" to become Americans.

We simply need to keep strongly articulating and fighting.
The fight against the decay of civilization is never-ending. Sometimes there are ups and downs. Sometimes entire Republics DO fall, when the people start thinking it is "artsy" to depict assassination of a Republican leader.

Yes, I suppose the difference between revolution and sedition is whether you win or lose. The British and many of the Colonists saw the American Revolution as sedition.

If the American Revolution was successful in creating a Republic, based on individual liberty, the Left has been engaged in a counter-revolution for a century. The "elite" as they fashion themselves, don't see the common man as capable of self-governance. Equality is the stated goal of these counter-revolutionaries but that is the great lie of the Left. The "elite" certainly do no see themselves as equal with the common man and therefore they are justified in dominance, through cultural propaganda, but with the underlying threat of force if necessary to remain dominant.

I don't know that Americans are learning to live with treason. I think Americans long ago learned the pernicious habit of sitting around and waiting for "someone" to "do something" about "it" instead of electing politicians who won't tolerate treason and raising absolute hell when anyone tries to tolerate or commit it.

It's called learned helplessness, folks.

Hey, we accepted the first coup in modern history when Nixon resigned. As far as what to do, it's starting already if we can follow thru. There were protests against the Trump/Cesear play in NY yesterday. We need to stand up and speak out. Don't let political correctness rule your behavior. Loudly shout the "forbidden words." Engage in "hate speech." Dare them to shut you up, and respond to force with force.

America has a long history of not holding politicians accountable for failures - yet we take great pride in holding all other citizens responsible for their failures which are often much less devastating to the country

As it always has been, as it always will be, however unfortunate and however confusing for some (not you, just broadly).

Granted, I'm beyond happy our Founding Fathers did what they did, as England/UK was (and is) rather fucked up about a variety of fundamental aspects of liberty, and I love this country to pieces - an (as I've mentioned) 8th generation American myself - from 1720 on - serving our country in every major armed conflict we've had from the beginning to Desert Storm, but the fact remains that our Founding Fathers were traitors to their country at the time - to give us ours (thankfully), and their fellow (prior) countrymen and government in England thought we were the fucked up ones who deserved to be shot/etc, and had they had forums like this back then they'd have been bitching about us just like we do now. We (early Americans) were what our enemies now are, just for different reasons (that we feel are better just like our current opponents do theirs). It doesn't make them crazy or unique, and ignoring this and acting like we didn't once do the same damn thing helps nothing.

Though our country and most of the West are fairly stable, we especially are incredibly young - as far as countries go, and nothing lasts forever nor are the countries and ideologies that do last easy to maintain. This fight will never stop, they're not crazy for trying to change things - it's exactly what we did to get here, and bemoaning or acting indignant about this (basically) perpetual struggle is as pointless as it gets. If there are any truly defining characteristics of humanity and civilization - it's this very topic.

You/we (our side) and we (humanity) will never not be doing this - in a macro sense, folks will never change, no matter the laws or who is in charge - there will always be a bunch of motherfuckers (good and bad) who disagree and try to upend things to suit them, violently if they have to - clearly.

So let's skip to the useful part and not waste time and energy on what we can't change and focus instead on *what* we can do to try and resist, to further our cause and maintain the things we prefer...

Short of war itself, and working within our current system, the best thing we can do is to stay in charge, and that takes votes, and we already barely win elections as it is. Even with that horrible witch Hillary our margins were thin (and we even lost the popular vote - an odd thing that makes me appreciate the EC even more), and our hold on power and authority is tenuous at best - even today, and even we (our entire side, broadly...) are divided on several topics from social issues to fiscal policy and the rest, and yet we all bicker and complain and fight amongst ourselves, and fuck around dealing with pointless bullshit, to our collective detriment, from the President's office to Congress to here.

Vote. Convince people our side is right. Fight the legal fights. Protect ourselves. Wash rinse repeat.

Unfortunately, our side is traditionally horrible about selling ourselves as the better idea. Our PR firm sucks, so to speak. Our Party (the politicians themselves and apparatus, I mean) is all kinds of fucked up, and has been. And our side has bitter divisions on major topics, which itself runs off enough people to seriously affect / be a driver re: our thin majorities, and none of our factions (hard right, moderate right, etc) are large enough to do it on their own.

If we could clean our own house well enough to simply pick up 10% more voters, by focusing upon the things we have in common, we would dominate election after election, because many of our ideas *are* better. But we're pretty terrible at this task, and it took an Obama + threat of Hillary + a Trump for us to even be where we at today, barely holding on, fighting on a dozen fronts, and so on.

I don't have all the answers, but I know a bunch of what we're doing is futile and pointless, including wasting much time vilifying them for trying or bemoaning these struggles.

well, I had hoped that the republicans would actually grow at least a single pair of balls amongst them, but so far they seems to be just as neutered after having control of all 3 branches of the government as they did with just one

voting doesn't seem to be working if the goal was to get a collection of people to do what the voters have demanded

so what penalty can we impose on the politicians that are failing the voters?

Most people think it's right vs left, liberals vs conservatives, and republicans vs democrats. It's really about the globalists vs the rest of us. When you look at it from that perspective, acts of Congress make much more sense. They really and truly don't give a fuck about you. And almost all of Congress hates Trump. That's why they're all complicit in the media attacks and the special prosecution.

Most Americans don't know what treason is, let alone how to punish someone for it. When's the last time someone has been executed for treason? How about the last time someone has been given a life sentence?

In politics, one side doesn't go after the other because in many cases they're calling the pot black. America is a business and the amount of money that comes in is staggering to the point where billions of dollars go missing and no one blinks an eye. The average American used to just live their life and so long as they could do that, all was fine and well. With social media more and more people are chiming in telling other people how they should think and live their lives. The politicians have used this to fund more programs designed to make people feel good while allowing them more power to siphon funds for personal gain. The same is true of people like Comey who intentionally (and conveniently) decide what information and laws they are going to enforce based upon who is going to best serve their own interests. Until people in positions of power are held accountable for their greed and self serving interests, nothing will change.

I would argue that voter fraud and fixing elections are grounds for treason. The people responsible should be executed so anyone who thinks betraying the voting American is a good idea will think twice.

Short answer: Yes.

We didn't put the Walkers to death. In fact, we cut a deal with them even though we had them dead to rights.

That's just one example.

Let's begin with the definition from Merriam-Webster (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/treason):

treason
noun trea·son \ˈtrē-zən\

1 : the offense of attempting, by overt acts, to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family

2 : the betrayal of a trust : treachery

With the above in mind, how is it NOT treason for Maxine Waters to jump up, grand-stand, and bloviate saying DJT must be impeached.....for no apparent cause?? Isn't she, by overt acts, trying to overthrow the government? Please correct me if I'm wrong...honestly. Or is the definition of "overthrow the government" limited only to military coup??

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24
