Photobucket Problems???
Anybody else get a notice about being at 100% of third party hosting usage now? Was it always like that or did something change today? A lot of photos I'm seeing on here and avatars have that sign being at 100%, not someones actual picture. Wondering if it was only me seeing it or what.

Yep! Been seeing this all day, time to ditch Photobucket if they aren't going to allow this any longer. What it is, they are trying to force people to upgrade to a paid plan. Not gonna happen.

What I see:

We have noticed that you have been using Photobucket for 3rd Party Hosting.
Don't worry, your photos are safe.

Our Terms of Service does not allow 3rd party hosting for your current account level.
We have created a Plus 500 plan that allows you to continue using Photobucket to host your images with Linking & 3rd Party Hosting.
Our Plus500 Plan Includes: Ad-free browsing, full resolution photo storage, 3rd party hosting & priority customer support. Along with those benefits your content and services will be featured to millions of visitors as part of our exclusive PB Deals community.

*What is 3rd Party Hosting?
Alternatively refered to as inline linking, "hotlinking" is the action of linking to an image or object on another server. An example of hotlinking would be using an <img> tag to display a JPEG image that you uploaded to your Photobucket account so it will appear on a different website like Etsy, eBay auction listings, blogs, forum messages, etc.

They must have changed their terms of service as I've used them since they started, and just about ONLY for third party hosting.

Yep... I just remembered that I have Amazon Prime and therefore I have free Prime Photo hosting. I wonder if there is anyone who is really going to bite and actually pay for this. I guess the think that holding our already shared photos hostage will garner them an upgrade. I mean, they have every right to do what they've done, but I'm pretty sure that I wasn't the only one who had a negative reaction to this. I guess I should have seen it coming as they put so many ads on there that until I discovered good ad blocking it was miserable trying to do anything on that site to begin with. The bottom line for me is that they miscalculated big time. I'll never use that site again.

ETA: I just discovered that of the two sites I posted to with photos recently it is only SIGforum that I'm getting the message for the same photos. weird. Oh well, too late now, they've already made me realize I've got better options.

I gave up on PB last week, started to delete and save photos. Used postimage.org a few times, but having trouble with the site and my avatar. I'll figure it out...

What's a good alternative?

I just deleted my Photobucket account, it's been clunky and slow for a while and this trick they pulled was the final straw.

LOL - I log in with the iPad and immediately a F pop-up demands to know whether or not I link 3rd party. I try to click NO, but the radio button doesn't fill, and the pop-up goes nowhere. Refresh the page and it's gone.

Anyhow, I proceed to try and delete the good pics, but a F giant advertisement banner blocks the delete button on the bottom of the screen. I can't even close the POS banner even though there's an X to close it. The entire site is a giant clusterfuck and has been for years.

Guess I'll try logging on with another device.

My 2 buckets are at 1% and 2%.

Crap! Guess I need to find someone else. I didn't like imgur.

Weird. Mine seems to be working. Guess I don't have a lot of images.

PostImage all day long. There is one major problem with it though. Once you find out how much easier it is, you will hate yourself for not switching earlier.

You're welcome. I learned about it from Skins in a prior thread, can't take credit!

Hmmm I'm getting the same message. To be honest I've never used it for an avatar, just for posting pictures in a thread. Maybe Skins will be along with some advice, his avatar clearly works.

Thanks for finally giving me the nudge to get rid of Photobucket.

This morning, I finally finished downloading my pics and deleting my account with them.

Now to figure out postimage, will see if this works:

It does! Wooohooo Cool

I've been using photobucket since 2005. Until now, I was well satisfied with them, despite their overbearing web page advertisements. It was free, with plenty of space, and it did everything I needed/wanted it to. For those reasons I recommended the site to other people who were looking for a place to host 3rd party images.

But now I just want to say that I take back everything positive or nice that I have ever said or written about Photobucket.

Fuck 'em.

Fuck 'em again!

What a HUGE pain in the ass it will be to transfer all those images to a new host!

And what about all the previous references I have made to those images on multiple websites, blogs, and other communications that now only display a grey square with Photobucket advertising in it?

Yeah, fuck those guys with a weathered fence post.

Thanks,

Sap

Same with me. Posting pics in a thread is no problem, but posting my avatar is puzzling. Perhaps Skins knows.
