Aside from the obvious, there is another reason why Kasich and almost all of his fellow never Trumpers are totally full of shit. A true never Trumper would say OK, I can't vote for Trump because of (fill in the blank). But they would then actively support Republican Senate and Congressional candidates to build a firewall around Biden to box him in and keep him from doing anything really outrageous. But no. Guys like Bill Kristol and many other never Trumpers are actively supporting Democrat Senate and House candidates as well. Even Susan Collins Democrat opponent got money from Kristol's group. Susan Collins is a moderate/conservative who lead the support for Brett Kavanaugh during his judicial hearing. She lobbied wavering Republicans (yes there were some) and an account I read of the confirmation battle credits her with big part of his eventual confirmation. Even her Democratic opponent is getting money from Kristol

These so called "never Trumpers" are not only interested in destroying Trump. They are trying to destroy the entire Republican party.

I hadn't thought about it before, but, yeah, you really don't hear of a lot of these guys ever having taken active roles in, say, various state conventions. I don't know exactly what it comes from, but maybe a lot of the prominent never Trumpers live in states where it's impossible to actually elect a conservative or something and it's skewing the way they think. Either way, they seem to think of themselves as thought leaders rather than people who actually make things happen, so I guess it's easier for them to take odd positions than to actually work to build the Republican Party they insist that they want to see.

I remember when Kasich first came on the scene in the 90's. I really admired him. Seemed a happy upbeat conservative. What happened?? What a bitter whiny RINO. Another damn Romney-McCain loser.

Kasich's whole plan/concept was based on Trump losing to Clinton in 2016. He wanted to stand up and say, "see, I told you, he's not the guy to lead us, get behind me next time and I can win." In many ways, I think that's what Tulsi Gabbard tried to do in the Democratic primary.

When Trump won, Kasich was screwed. I haven't heard his name in years as an Ohio resident. He's done and will never be a player again. He can't win a Senate seat here the way Romney did in Utah.

Yeah, but don't feel bad; the alternative (assuming you're talking the two I also voted for) was far worse. I would have voted for Pee Wee Herman up against the community organizer.

I think the term Never Trumpers would be more accurate if it were changed to Infiltrating Traitors in some cases.
