In May, I will be attending a trade show in Hershey PA. I would like to take the owner of the company and a coworker to do some shooting. Over the years they have asked me about guns and 2A but have not been able to get any hands on experience since they live in NJ. They were excited when I suggested we do this at the show this year.

Since I will be spending time in NY and NJ prior to and after the show, I cannot bring my own firearms. I am looking for a range open to the public that has gun rental options.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

You are missing the Hershey Porsche Swap Meet by a month. A really great event.

It's a little bit of a drive, 75 miles from Hershey (maybe 1 hour 15 min drive) but Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays near Allentown, PA is a REALLY fun and cool place! They will rent you shotguns, so you don't really need much gear.

Let me third Trop Gun Shop. Excellent range with programable targets with 9 levels of difficulty. You can rent just about anything, including full auto. I'm there a couple of times a week.

Will you be there weekday or weekend? Weekends are pretty busy. But I'm a member and can reserve lanes. Feel free to email me.

When did Trop get a range?

It's been ages since I've been there!

Obviously didn't even know they had a range, but I dealt with them on a few occasions when it was more or less a hole in the wall, and my dealings with them were consistently positive.

OP:

If you're able to bring your own guns, there's a public range or two maintained by the Game Commission in the area. One in Carlisle Springs and one outside of Halifax; the Halifax location is probably closer to Hershey, but maybe not by much. There's also a PCG range at French Creek, which is due East of Hershey, but about halfway to Philly.

Trop is the place to go for what you want to do. It's 15 minutes south of Hershey. Also if you need restaurant idea's, let me know. I grew up in Hershey and live just south of there.

Otis, Trop moved about 2 years ago to a new location(new owners took over 3-4 years ago) and it includes a 14 lane, 25yd indoor range. It really is a nice operation and the staff is much friendlier than they were at the old place.

LV Sporting Clays is awesome. Great people and you can rent all the gear you need.

Their Dreamweaver Wheat is pretty damn good too!

Why did I think Troegs was in Easton? Am I thinking of another brewery?

Let me 2nd Lehigh Valley SC. One of THE nicest SC setups in the east. I suffer driving out from MT to visit my Mom on the Jersey Shore, so I can bring a few shotguns and shoot LHVSC on my way out.

Thank you for all the great info. As we finalize the plans, I will likely come back for more info.

I appreciate the recommendations for other locations too. It looks like I will be making more trips to PA over the course of the spring and summer. I am hoping that I will get to try some of them out.
