Here's hoping this never gets to trial-but that they're caught.

I add my most sincere condolences to the slain officer's family. RIP, Brother.

I am equally sorry that the trainee had to undergo such a traumatic experience. Kudos to her for being able to exit the cruiser and return fire. Her training kicked-in, and she can be proud of her reaction under terrible stress.

It is more than a little disgusting to recall that the last two punks who shot a police officer in Seattle, murdering in cold blood an officer who had stopped to assist them in their broken-down car, received only 33 and 20 years respectively... for the cold blooded murder of a police officer!

Our "Justice System" is broken.

I hope the perp(s) resist when found and arrest is imminent.

Having just lost my pal in the local Sheriffs Office recently, this is especially painful.

Thoughts - prayers for all concerned.

These 'End of Watch' situations are more frequent than the public is made to believe.

RIP

I hate to hear that a good man or woman is down. May his family find peace and his brethren "find" his attacker.

Very sorry to hear.

I've known about this since early yesterday AM and am still upset. That this officer should have his life stolen from him (he didn't give it away) is an outrage. That certain people believe posting "RIP" or expressing sympathy towards the surviving family members somehow makes up for a lack of respect towards this officer and others when they are alive is sickening. Respect for this officer, his wounded partner and others "just doing their job" shouldn't predicated on the need for a flagged draped casket.

I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken.
