Well after almost 6 months of searching, my quest to replace the F150 has ended.
In the last month or two, the sunroof had started squeaking on rough pavement, a rattle/rumble had developed in the rear (bed/axle/suspension), and the LR door lock was starting to stick. Roll Eyes

I think I looked at just about every practical 4-door option under ~$40k

Mercedes C400 / C300
Ford Fusion Sport
Ford Edge Sport
Kia Stinger Premium
Accord - Touring & Sport, 10AT & 6MT
Mazda 6 - GT GT R & Signature
Genesis Ultimate / G80
VW GTI Autobahn DSG
Ford Focus ST
Hyundai Elantra GT Sport 7DCT

After all that, the GTI was my #2 pick, behind the C300. But, I searched with a pretty wide net & couldn't find one equipped the way I'd want it.
With that, I was ready to start getting quotes from dealers on the GTI.

Happened to do a check on AutoTrader for C300s & came across a CPO that checked most of the boxes.
An extended test drive later & a bit of negotiation, and the truck was gone.

2015 Mercedes C300 Sport
Iridium Silver
Black interior
AMG 19" wheels
Premium pkg
Multimedia pkg

Have technically been in it for a week, signed all the paperwork Friday after work. No complaints on it, love the way it drives & am surprised that even with the Continental 'run-flats', 19" wheels and sport suspension, it's so much smoother on rough pavement than the truck was.
It's got a firm ride, but not jarring at all.

Haven't had a chance to take more than a few parking lot photos so far.

Everything signed & saying good-bye to the Blue Oval.

A couple shots from the office.

congratulations. I had one of those for two weeks, while engine work was being done on my 06 E class. The dealer knew what they were doing, my wife did not want to give it back.

I really enjoyed the car.

My wife has the 4Matic version and loves it.
The build quality is good but anything out of warranty will cost you if you take it to a dealer.
Fortunately we have a great German mechanic in the next town over.

So far, a week in, and not a single complaint.
My salesman has had 2 of the W205 (current generation) Cs & said they were both trouble-free.
My grandmother is on her 2nd current-gen S550 & has had no issues with hers either.

My top choice was Lunar Blue, but finding a sport in that color was proving impossible. Iridium Silver was my #2 choice.

Luckily, CPO adds a year to the factory 4/50k warranty, and gives unlimited mileage. This one only has 18k on it & looks nearly showroom new.

I'm not as worried about where to put the sheets of plywood (on the roof) as to where to put the loader scoop of horse crap.

I would have made you a helluva deal on a 14 month old C300 convertible... Though my wife is enjoying the hand-me-down...

4 door was a requirement, otherwise that would've been a tempting offer.

Congratulations on the new car.

Quite a big change from a pick up. But I suppose change is good.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

The truck was a purchase of necessity, it was a nice truck, but far from what I wanted at the time.

My first 2 cars were Mercedes & when I started searching for a replacement for the F150, was the first 2 I test drove (C400 & C300).

Takes a little adjustment, but the system is very easy to use.

Coming out of an AMG when I leased the C300 there were quite a few changes, but nothing hard to get used to. I thought I was done with performance cars but after a year I had to scratch the itch again. Wife inherited it as a run around since Ive still got 20 months on the lease and I'd have taken a beating to get rid of it.
