Considering the current political turmoil, it could be quite a circus when she is replaced. I can't imagine how many bats in the belfry the Dems will try to stir up.

Every time I see this tread bumped back to the top I get my hopes up and jump to the last page thinking "today is the day" only to be disappointed. I thought Mitch McConnell and Brett Kavanaugh had an understanding, Mitch would force through the nomination and Brett would sneak up behind RBG and yell "Boo!" At the top of his lungs.

Yeah, that's been said quite a few times in this thread, and each time it's said, it gets older and more boring.

We could try religion. Have some faith in the limits of current medical technology. And robotics, animatronics, life sustaining embalming chemistry etc. There are limts, we just need more faith, hope in things as yet unseen. There that should do it.

Oh, there most assuredly are limits to the technology. Eventually, ol' Death gets his due, and it's coming for this unethical bag of bones, and soon.

If someone dumped water on the old witch tomorrow, could Trump successfully install a new Justice this close to the election without the left and their media lapdogs creating another “protest” firestorm he would get blamed with? This close to endgame, even a black lesbian transgender cross dressing shemale would be attacked by the left if that person was openly conservative.

^^^^^ Sen. McConnell has said he will work to fill an open Justice position no matter when it occurs. I suspect that President Trump already has persons picked to nominate.

Are you suggesting that the left would be civil and fair if he didn’t? They are going to protest Trump, period, even if they have to fabricate the reason, like Russiagate. Since the left is in a constant state of agitation and partisanship, Trump might as well do as he pleases. If the left is always pissed, there is no incentive to acquiesce about anything.

Unfortunately, she has more than 9 lives. That being said, if Trump were to get someone in, some of the the conservatives on the court haven’t been to conservative lately. I would love to see Amy Coney Barrett in there.

Given the problems with Roberts and the recent very bad decisions from Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. I think the best way to pick the next SCOTUS appointment is for Trump to ask Thomas and Alito for a recommendation. Those are the only two advisors I would listen to.

A good idea.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

At her age and her health she's not capable of fulfilling her duties as a Justice on the Supreme Court and it's selfish for her to cling to it to the death. Like others before her- She's not serving her country she's serving herself.

No, I believe she is serving the Left. She knows that under the present circumstances she would be replaced by an Originalist, and that would alter the context of the Court (positively, IMO, but not hers).
