Well, the season is upon us. I wanted to wish everyone luck. I started a thread last year and thought I would make it a tradition. With any luck I should get my first buck this year. Probably won't be a wall hanger but I could have some beginner's luck Wink

Feel free to post anything relating to Deer hunting and especially pics of your harvest and/or trophy

I just finished our muzzle loader season here (one week long). During 4 mornings, I saw 26 deer, all does and yearlings. Chose not to take any of those. Our month long modern gun season starts Mid-November.

I'm not nearly as 'mad' at the deer as I used to be if any of you older guys know what I mean.

Good luck. I went deer hunting last year for the 1st time in 20 years and got a 9 pointer 30 minutes after climbing into the stand.

Gun started 17OCT here - ever since then, there's been nothing but dogs in the damn forest. Thanks for ruining the season - again.

We're in bow season here. Have gone 3 times, seen deer all but once. Only got one shot, and hit a doe in the shoulder blade with a Rage broadhead. Recovered arrow 10 yards away, 4-5" of blood on it, no blood trail and no deer. Frown Sucks to miss, sucks worse to wound. Gonna go get some slick trick broadheads tonight, I do believe!

My brain is already there but I haven't got a thing together yet. I have 4 more weeks to go before the start of the season.

Firearm deer season starts Nov. 15th here in MI.

Debating whether to use my Remington .30-06 semi auto, or my Mini-30. The .30-06 is awfully heavy to tote around the woods, but it sure drops 'em lock a rock. On the other hand the Mini-30 carries really well, but I've had to track almost every one that I shot with it.

Decisions...

Already bagged me one big doe about two weeks back.

Had a shot on a hoss of an 8 pointer but my release didn't release the string. I kept pulled the trigger and nothing happened. When I let the string down he saw me and boucned away. Frown

Gun starts on the 21st here, cant wait! I usually never shoot at a buck unless it is massive in size and rack. Doe taste better to me, so I tend to stay that way. I actually JUST finished my two doe from last year this week. My wife doesn't like deer so I do not get many opportunities to cook it.

My rifle season is open right now, but I am still in the process of heavily baiting the area.

You need to know how to use those dogs to your advantage! I don't like the dogs anymore then you, but non of us have the right to take away that tradition of dog hunting. It has been around since before firearms.
