I forget which channel it was on but they had a documentary type show about growing up Amish.
They basically said they leave it to the children to decide for themselves but they tell them that all will be forgiven once you are officially part of the Amish church but if you stray after that point you will be kicked out. They had quite a few interviews with teens and what not. Kind of interesting when you think about though. I always thought that you were born into it. I guess not. But if you choose a life outside the church they will not support you. So a few of the teens you see moving away and trying to make it on their own at 18. I have a lot of respect for the Amish. Actually, alot of it appeals to me, except for the no guns, no porn, no drinking part...
