Does anyone have experience to share about the various iPhone refurbishers out there? What about used options? I've see the Apple refurbishment program, but I can get a brand new phone for less than they are charging. Looking for an iPhone XR if it makes a difference.

What about Gazelle? The price is good.

Bought my current iPhone 6s from Gazelle and am thoroughly satisfied.

The XR is too new to get a refurbished phone from anywhere pretty much except Apple. I would just get a new one through your carrier.

You can get an XR from the apple store for $479 when you trade in your old iPhone. I would go that route if you currently have an iPhone. Personally, with things like phones and small electronics I always buy new. I would rather not have refurbished (something that has already broken) or a used phone. $529 for the 128 GB version and with any carrier or even unlocked for the same price (which might be the way to go if you plan on selling it or switching carriers later)

Bought my wife an I-Phone from the apple site a couple of years ago for the wife, and was very happy with purchase. Came with the same warranty as new one if I recall.

Bought my current iPhone 6S Plus off of eBay for around $230.00 shipped. It is a 128Gig model, and it looks and works like new. Kinda hard to beat that!

I would never buy a refurb iPhone from anywhere but Apple.

Most of these "refurbs" are just a cleaning. Apple will replace battery, screen, other parts it deems necessary then put a warranty on it.

IIRC no one else does that.

I bought my used, but well-cared-for iPhone 6S from an eBay seller. I acquired my wife's iPhone 6S, which still had original factory warranty left on it, from Swappa. My Apple Watch, also with warranty remaining, was also acquired from Swappa.

The last of those three purchases was over two years ago. All three were cosmetically and functionally flawless. I took advantage of the $30 Apple battery deal last year and replaced the battery in my 6S.

When the next generation of iPhones comes out I'll look to Swappa for deals on an iPhone Xr. Not because my 6S needs replacing, per se, but because I want to take advantage of T-Mobile's new 600MHz band.

I also recommend Swappa. They seem to go above and beyond to make sure that nobody gets ripped off.
