This anti-gun shit is really getting out of hand


A woman identifying as a Virginia social worker took to social media Friday evening to vent about being fired from her job for being a concealed carry permit holder.

Storm Durham, a former Department of Virginia Social Services employee who describes herself as a “22 year old blonde who is 5’2 and about 140 pounds who loves everything Disney, pink, and basic,” asserts that she was escorted out of her office by three Roanoke, Va., police officers after she was canned. She was, according to a post on Facebook, not even allowed to use the bathroom due to “serious safety concerns to the building.”

“I was fired today due to having a concealed carry permit,” Durham wrote on Facebook. “Was my gun on me? No. Has it ever been on me during my job, or visits, or anything related to work? No. When I told them that it has never been on me during work, what did they say? ‘How do we know that.'”

“I got my concealed carry because I am woman, and y’all have seen the news, it’s kind of crazy,” she said on a Facebook Live video. In her post, she described herself as a “survivor or sexual assault.”

“I have a concealed carry permit. I own guns. I hunt. I target shoot. I represent Women hunters and outdoorswomen,” she wrote on Facebook. “Does that make me a criminal? Does that make me a safety risk to others? A big enough safety risk to be escorted by three Roanoke City Police officers? So scary and threatening that I need to be treated like a criminal? To be humiliated and looked down upon for owning a gun? For legally having a gun, registering that gun, and having the appropriate documentation for that gun?”

The Department of Virginia Social Services did not respond to request for comment, and the relevant person at the Roanoke Police Department was not available for comment.

“I’m going to fight back,” Durham said on Facebook Live. She is preparing to lawyer up to challenge what she considers wrongful termination. She is also preparing to meet with U.S. politicians.

She said that she does not want her job back because she does “not want to work for these liberals.”

If this is true, a lawyer will have a field day with the Virginia SS dept. However the story sounds fishy to me.

Liberal fascism on the march? There might be other issues. However as David Horowitz said 'Inside every liberal there is a totalitarian screaming to get out'.

That's...outrageous. If true as written, i can't fathom how that's defensible in any way.

This is the problem when a right somehow requires gov't paermission. Once on record, all sorts of mischief can be leveraged. Who could see this coming? Who knows what the next consequence Leftists and/or bureaucracy will impose? This is the danger of giving even benign concessions to Progressives. They weaponize everything. Will this woman win a legal battle? Maybe, but why should she have to? How many would just move on and allow more Leftists to concentrate in gov't positions? That couldn't be bad, right?

This has been debunked. She got fired for other stuff and several other permit holders still work there.

I will bet there is more to this story. If not a lawyer will have fun but something seems a little off.

The Daily Caller, and even The Daily Wire, among others, are tabloid sites for the right. I wish Tucker Carlson and Ben Shapiro would impose higher standards or disassociate themselves from them. It's all about clicks, regardless of the accuracy/importance of the story, which disappoints me, particularly in Shapiro, because I think in other areas he does try hard to be intellectually honest. Tucker, to a lesser extent.

So we are to believe she was fired merely for having a CCW permit?

Department of Virginia Social Services has 120 offices statewide, and employs 1800 people. Does anyone believe she's the only at the Department of Virginia Social Services who has a CCW permit?

I remain skeptical.

So if I read correctly and after listening to 25 minutes of facebook live chat. She was fired for not meeting quotas, but was escorted out of the building by three officers due to concerns about her being a safety risk due to her CHP.

No story here. Even if they did fire her because she is a member of hunting, fishing, and gun groups, there will never be proof as such. Hopefully she'll land a nice job at an organization who supports 2A rights and where she's happy. Good luck Storm.

Interesting she graduated from a liberal arts school, with a social something degree. I can't imagine what it was like for her on campus.

They have cause for termination: Her qoutas were off.

However, if other people's quota's were off and they weren't terminated AND the employer did ask rather stupid questions like "do you have guns at home?" etc., then the lawyers have something because it is disparate treatment.

She isn't helping her case by saying she doesn't want her job back as that reflects on her possible motives for filing suit. Her lawyer needs to tell her to shut-up.

I did read the thread. Despite claims this has been "debunked," and a request for a " link" supporting that claim, none was provided that contained any sort of actual proof.

There is so little in that Townhall link to draw any conclusions about what actually occurred, and that wasn't posted until AFTER I posted, and you made you abide response.

So my comments make sense after a complete read of the entire thread. You should take your own advice, and read for full understanding of what was actually said.

Again, with so little proof of anything offered, I remain skeptical.
