Not NYC invited, nay, offered big bucks for Amazon to come to their little slice of heaven. Occasional-Cortex and her band of freeloaders didn't beat Bezos, they beat the morons that offered Amazon huge incentives to come to NYC. Bezos is too busy getting busy with his new main squeeze, hunting down rogue journalists and trying to economize now that he is down to his last $50 billion. There are folks in the area whose rent was jacked up already by landlords taking advantage of the anticipated competition for housing. It really sucks for them but they’ll still keep voting for the same people so perhaps to some extent they deserve it. | |||

Not sure what you are getting at. Are you talking about Amazon not collecting sales tax in some areas? Or are you talking about the tax cost of Amazon driving out small businesses? Or are you talking about the so-called low wages not being high enough and that the employer payroll taxes on those earners being artificially depressed? Or is it some form of all of that. I would hazard a guess that amazons payroll taxes, sales taxes are massive generators compared to any percieved loss. | |||
