Michelov, a Jewish peasant living in Siberia is having a breakfast of bread and honey. After coating one side of a piece of bread with honey, he drops it. Much to his astonishment, it lands honey side up.

Amazed by this event, he picks up the bread and heads down to the synagogue to consult the rabbi and village elders. "We are Jews, living is Russia. Oppressed does not begin to describe our plight. Yet, I drop my bread and it lands honey side up. How can this be?"

The rabbi and the elders tell him they will think on it and let him know.

Three days of carefully consulting the Talmud and other books goes by. Nothing. On the fourth day the rabbi and elders call Michloev back.

"We have consulted many books, the Talmud, and others. We have thought through the history of our people. And we have come to a conclusion."

"Yes," says Michelov, hoping against hope it is good news.

"You honeyed your bread on the wrong side."

That guy is so stupid he doesn't even know how to be miserable.

C’mon, man!

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

You have hit the nail on the head with respect to a type of Jewish humor.

Rodney Dangerfield and Don Rickles used this approach. Sid Caesar did, too, in some of his sketches.
